Styx, the new Blue Ice technical alpine tool

Following - despite the negativity in this thread, these seem like a good idea. The complaint with other semi-offset tools (north machines, etc) always seems to be the swing, so if these swing and feel like a nomic on vertical ice, but work well enough plunging to replace a straight-shafted axe, that seems to be addressing a genuine gap. Curious to see what users will have to say after they're released.

maybe the new Styx handles don't fall off?  They don't show it on their website???

  • When are these supposed to be released?

I just spoke to the rep last night. They have had some production delays and are planning to release them in July. So.... next season or Patagonia season depending on your perspective.

The tools are way lighter than I expected and that was with an adze and pick weights.

I'm gonna try to get a pair ASAP. I mean just look at it, it's gorgeous!
