Black diamond trigger wires

The evil shopping empire does have some options at 0.05". I know in the past I've been able to sand/cut down the line if it's just slightly too big to fit, so I'd think the 0.05" would work. I do wonder about durability with this small of line...but for $5 it'd be easy to try it out. If it does work, it's a lifetime supply of cam repair!

Amazon example

That Maxpower .050-Inch Trimmer Line is exactly what I used. I've replaced it once but it holds up for years as trigger cable

Cam Repair Service Request Form

Yeah i just sent my exploded Z4's in the day before this thread started, which ended up being a lot more expensive than I'd have wanted. Should've read this and done it myself ...

I used tennis racket (racquet) string several times.  They just gave me some scraps at a pro shop one time.  Melt the ends as previously described.  Held for years, still working.

has anyone gotten an X4 rewired? curious what the ends of the wire that go into the lobes look like? do they rivet them or just bend the wire?

On the 0.1 to 0.3 X4s, the rigid wire has a flare at each end that secures it in the lobe and into the trigger bar.  Sizes 0.4 to 0.75 have Kevlar cords in lieu of metal trigger wire; these are glued into the lobes.

Just confirming this this on an X4 you had recently re-triggered?

No, it's from using them and looking at BDs product photos.  If I were to re-wire one, I would simply bend the lobe ends over. It's really hand to peen a flare on wire that thin.

I own them, thought my question implies that... I'm trying to ascertain the finished product of BD's repair. I don't need to pay them $15/ea + shipping to do a repair I can do for less than 50 cents, which by the way, results in sharp wires that rip the inside of your pack or your clothes when they inevitably snag.

Big cams (anything from #1 on up) are easy to replace with bike brake/shifter cable, and you can use the metal crimp caps as well. Most any bike shop will happily give you a couple feet of it for free or almost free.

Need new trigger wires oh my #3 c4 but they are sold out everywhere. Never had to replace them before. Are they often not available for long periods or am I likely to find them anytime soon in stock?

It takes me just a couple minutes to make these (below). You want a set?

Thanks for the offer!  The sling is a bit fuzzy so decided to sent it in to mountain tools for a Resling since they also offer trigger wire service.

Could have probably gone another 1/2 season on the sling but figured I’d kill two birds

Fixing cam wire with weed wacker line is WACK!!! Unless it’s a temporary fix in the field. I cant stand how elastic it is. Heres my ss wire fix for a friend and a braided dyneema fix for a ulmc.

What specifically are you using for the middle wire?

That's bicycle derailleur cable. It works well for larger units. Smaller cams like Z4s need a smaller diameter (which I buy from McMaster Carr).

Has anyone tried the Wild Country trigger repair kits, on BD or WC? They have .4-1 and 2-4
