Full on apathy definitely gives me "the ick", especially when we have it so good compared to about 90% of the world.

While true in many respects, this fatalistic view is essentially along the lines of the classic McKenzie bros line…”the brakes are out, no point in steering now”..       

it was supposed to be a joke —“funny stupid”, not representative of an essentially “real stupid” way of living life

Seems pretty harsh, JP. I am genuinely engaged in the discussion - enjoying it quite a bit. I am just not contributing exactly how you'd like. I am sure someone found value in my comments. You are more than welcome to skip over mine and read others' messages. You're only adding to the off topic posts by criticizing me.

People assuming that the two options are: 1) "believe a lie" or, 2) "be apathetic" give me the ick. 

You're allowed to have your own personal viewpoint. In theory, it's even encouraged in a democracy. And you can be as passionate or disinterested about it as you want without needing to get your hate-boner stroked by propaganda.

Also icky: toilette paper everywhere.

It was chill until you went off the rails on politics which no one wants to hear about on MP. I wouldn't be surprised to learn you are between 60 and 78 years old - Baby boomers are obsessed with red vs blue politics.

you started it, don't expect sympathy just because you added a lisp to your written voice. 

Graffiti and tagging...anywhere, but especially in the mountains or at the crags.

Not sure how I'd react if I ever caught someone actually doing this at the crags, but it wouldn't be pretty.

Personally, I have virtually no material interest in presidential politics. So including me in your political crossfire because I pointed it out is also further evidence of fanaticism. This is another hallmark of cultish behaviour, taking it out personally on those who don’t stand shoulder to shoulder with you. “If you’re not with us, you’re against us.” “Silence is violence.” Etc.

Haha great comment great view I respect it and it’s funny. What I said was definitely exaggerated which is my fault feeding into the ick and the masses I agree with what you’re saying. At the core what I was trying to say is 2 Party red and blue party system causes division and most politics do and that is why they’re failing us. Generally speaking nobody that wants power deserves power. 

Politicians and their supporters, red, blue or otherwise.  Especially in a climbing forum

(dang, I just mentioned politics in a climbing thread...  I'm part of the problem)

The question was asked on a ROCK CLIMBING FORUM, in the context of ROCK CLIMBING, not politics.

Your "truthful answer" was wildly off-topic. Quit being so literal. You knew damned well what you were doing.
