For the first time, I have consistently stuck to a hangboard routine. In less than a month, I’m already finding it easier and easier

Next week I will be on a cruise. I’d like to continue strengthening my fingers but I don’t have time to order a portable system. As well as, I’d like to avoid spending the money on the tension block or yy hang holds for example.

Has anybody made a “crimp block” (i guess would be the name) themselves? I was thinking of taking a square piece of a 2x4 and screwing different edges on each side with a hole in the middle to run a sling through to then connect to dumbbells or cables.

You’re going to be on a cruise. Drink too much, get sunburned, have some naked time with someone special.

You’ll get it back once you get home.

Yes I might not even make it into the gym on the boat lol. Still, I’ve been considering this for awhile. I’d like to use a hanging system to warm up fingers before a climb or train just in a different position by pulling up from ground.

Home Depot sells a molding that is 19mm, a little sanding to make the edge softer/rounder and you have a pretty decent crimp rail. Screw that onto your 2x4 and add some cord and you have yourself a portable hang board.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
