I have read it and formed my opinions of the content, so I don’t read it anymore.

That is quite funny, makes me chuckle considering I have not touched a rock gym other than the scratch pad (dry tooling gym) in multiple years.

Not exactly joking, more sardonic. Seeing that the OP was shitting on Outside for their selfish behavior, I was commenting that it's all on brand for 2024. My point was that same way Outside tries to monetize death, so too does the rest of modern social media monetize tragedy. Check out the channel JoeyBToonz for mega compilations of narcissists on TikTok and instagram who take any tragedy and turn it into an opportunity to attract attention and bring in ad revenue.

I take it back, it's not just 2024, it's an American past time. Entertainment and profit off of others sorrows, like "Reality Justice" shows, or newspapers obsessively reporting and notarizing homocidal maniacs. That's at least a century old. People got all upset when they were immediately sticking mics in the faces of the victims of school shooters. But that's indictment of us, the American viewers, for choosing to watch that shit. We get what we choose to watch. Maybe the Hunger Games and the description of the 'Capitol' was an indictment of Americans' soulless tastes. Once our bellies were so full that our biggest health problem was obesity, and had too much peace at home, we turned to the TV and papers for the dark stuff.

I think we're getting a little worked up here. While I don't like it, putting this feature behind a paywall is probably less a shameless ploy to capitalize on tragedy and more simply a strategy of having all content behind a paywall. They are a business after all, someone has to write these, and we live in a capitalist society where people don't work for free. If you're looking for symptoms of America's inexorable soulless decline towards depravity I can think of many more salient examples than this.
