Has anyone been to grouse ridge recently? Is the area accessible? Where do you camp? I can’t find the grouse ridge campground anywhere on recreation.gov

People have been climbing on Grouse Tor so it should be accessible without too much trouble. High clearance will make it easier but barring recent winter road damage its a pretty good road for nearly any vehicle.

There is tons of camping anywhere you want along the road up there as long as you bring your own water. You drive up the side of the ridge to get there, not much flowing past a certain time of year near the road but countless level pullouts to set up a camp.

Does anybody know if the area is climbable or is there already enough snow to make it impossible/a hassle?

Bowman or Emeralds/benches?

Either, but I assume Emeralds?

There are only a couple of inches of snow in Truckee so I assume the Emeralds is fine, given that it's a fair bit lower in elevation. That said I haven't been there since before this last storm.

Has anyone been out to Emeralds yet this year? I80 webcam shows a good bit of snow at emigrant gap exit and wondering if worth trying to post hole out there.

I have not this year, last been in December. You better go quick, there’s a system moving in starting Friday.

Any update on snow, climbing here yet? Heading up to area in next few weeks. Would like to get some climbs in if permits.

No first hand knowledge, but yesterday it was trying really hard to snow here at 2300', so I'm pretty sure it was snowing up at Bowman; at least a little.

You might take a look at the Snow Depth Map for the area.

Bowman Lake Rd?

Didn't go past the Emeralds but would guess that the road is not open to Bowman? I think the high point on that road is around 6000', still snow at that elevation elsewhere

How are the conditions at Emeralds after last week's snow? Forest Service snow map seems to indicate it's good to go, but wanted to double check.

Kind sir,

Literally the last two posts were about the emeralds, not bowman.
