Moving from SW to PNW?

I'm considering taking a job offer in Vancouver, moving from New Mexico.  I was wondering if anyone has made a similar shift (not necessarily that exact move, but moving from the SW to the PNW) and their experiences, particularly as climbers.  I'm a bit concerned about seasonal depression and shifting from a place where I can essentially climb year round to a place where the climbing season is limited to what seems to be a few months in the summer.  Is it really as gloomy, dismal, and limiting as it seems, or are there silver linings that surprised you?  I am primarily a sport climber (5.12ish), though I boulder (V5ish) and trad climb (5.10ish) to some degree too...

If you ski or are interested in learning you will have a great time. Otherwise winter will suck. Winter climbing is a bit better than you would expect. You learn the routes that don’t seep and learn to climb through the easy bits that do. Nothing like climbing in the sun on a 35* day with snow capped mountains all around. Not many of those days, but boy are they nice.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
