Whats that long thing at the top?

A funkness device, good sir.  For funking out pins.  Get funky, eh!

$15

Nail responsibly: tap pins up and back down only to horizontal, so a nut placement is created rather than an oval pin scar when cleaning.  Leave heads fixed.

Pitons, peckers, knife blades, lost arrows, rurps, oh my!

I’d be interested in a little selection of those.

A method for cleaning ballnuts after you stood on em or fell on one is to loop a skinny sling around the trigger arms and gingerly funk them out by the trigger.  Theyre almost impossible to clean any other way once weighted (the copper face of the nut really bites the rock). You certainly dont want to damage/kink the ball cable with a nut tool or by pushing body up or wiggling it aggressively.  Make sure its still clipped in or you'll funk the little gem into oblivion (same as in all funking operations--generally a mistake made only once).

I ripped the ball off a small blue one whipping a ways onto it, and Trango sent me a new one, no questions asked.  Ballnuts are a great way to keep from having to nail in a lot of situations, and are significantly stronger than a tiny wee cam or micro nut.  Great for free climbing too, in tiny crack territory.  Theyre strong and solid in parallel cracks.  Ballnuts rock.
