Assuming we are using stainless steel 1/2” and don’t have access to reduced wholesale prices, these prices are unrealisticly low IMO, and in my experience.

A quick glance at metoliusclimbing.com has their ss hangars alone retailing for $10.95 each

EDIT (Thanks Tal!): This very thread contains plenty of hints as to where one might find deals that beat what you're seeing. Also plenty of discussions of engineering specs that might change your mind about the necessity of 1/2" bolts.

All this said, good steel costs twice what it did 3 years ago, and some of the good options have disappeared in that span. But if $10.95 is anywhere close to what you're paying for hangers, then I'd love to sell you some. Cheers!

Thanks for the offer and the reach -out!

I’m using a combo of SS 3/8”, 1/2”, and wave/twists these days depending on the rock type and application. Thankfully I’m not paying full retail for anything except the team-tough via the website.

Personally I’m $4-$5 per-hole with SS fastener and hanger or simply a glue-in.

I didn’t want to pro-offer discounts that a neophyte may not have access to, hence quoting SS at roughly $10/hole and $30 total for the anchor additions.

Happy drilling!

This is that thread but you are otherwise spot on. Oluinid seems to be the go-to for SS hangers based on folks I’ve spoken with and what I’ve personally used

Thanks for the catch, Tal! Ropemaster is another one to monitor for hangers, as long as one is willing to buy enough to justify international shipping. Just received a bunch of glue-ins from them which shipped from Warsaw in 8 days.

Carabiner and rope friendly Duplas, SimPles, and PinGo Bonier Stainless Steel Hangers are still available at very good prices. Message me for more details.

I can vouch for James and the hangers he is selling. I have purchased pingo hangers from him, which are great because they really are round enough to tie the rope right to the hangers. A good price too ($2.50 per pingo at the quantity I last bought them).

I can attest those 3/8” PinGo Bonier hangers James Garret is offering above are tip top! Far and away my favorite ss 3/8” hangars!!!!

Thank you JG for offering these- it is a service and a kind gesture!

I also just got a shipment of PinGos from James, he shipped them extremely quickly.  Would recommend!

1/2” Duplas I believe. 30kn and smooth clipping radius can be threaded directly with a rope if needed!

Diablo 4 Cutter bits 3/8"

These bits have become my favorite and are a steal at $3.04 a piece.

I wish I was developing enough to warrant a 25 pack of bits haha

Anyone have any good leads on reasonably priced hilti epoxy?

I have both MD2000 and HDM 500 guns and about 15 nozzles but havent had any tubes of epoxy for years now

Both HIT and HIT-CR 500 can fit

Thanks!

No one has mentioned Lappas Climbing yet in this thread. They're based in Greece and prices are quite cheap.

https://lappasclimbing.com/

For example, my recent order of 316 stainless steel products looked like this:

30 quicklinks, 8mm thickness - 77 EUR

150 bolts, 12mm x 90mm - 253 EUR

150 hangers, 12mm - 233 EUR

customs - 63 EUR

shipping with DHL - 259 EUR

total: 884 EUR ($990 at the time of purchase)

So yeah, way better priced than other choices as far as 316 SS goes. Shipped right away and arrived in 6 days.

PS: Have to use a 12mm drill bit. Team-tough.com sells them, and brushes too.

Due to getting 2-5 holes per bit I don't really have a choice but to buy mine by the 25 pack. Let me know if you want me to sell you some at cost, I'm constantly going between Angels and the Bay. Unfortunately those 4-cutter ones seem to do terribly in quartzite, but I'm sure they're good in other applications, so I'm just using normal 2 cutter ones as I seem to get more holes out of them.

Lappas is legit.

Anyone have any experience with these Power Bull Wedge bolts? Haven’t heard of them before, and haven’t seen reviews from folks relating to climbing bolt installation either. Seem to be slightly more expensive than power studs but the clips kind of remind me of the ones on the hiltis

I’ve used 1/2” x3 3/4” power bill wedge anchors before- they were just fine- no problems encountered

Did you get any firm idea on the strengths of these guys? This tech specs sheet is a god damn nightmare to parse through

Andrew Jackson · · Greensboro, NC · Joined Jul 2016 · Points: 7

Their specs appear to be stronger than the Hilti KB3, in tension and shear, that I would consider an industry standard for this type of anchor. They don't clearly define the compressive strength of the concrete they used for testing, stating 2500lb-8500lb. I would have to assume the numbers in their chart are for the 8500psi, where as, the most comparable numbers in the Hilti chart are for 6,000 psi. Long story short, in the right rock they should be solid according to their reported specs. Someone can correct me if they have greater insight.

For those that have used them, do they torque quickly? Or do you end up with threads sticking out too far? This is why I've stuck with the KB3's, they begin to torque as soon as you begin tightening(in quality rock).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
