The American Alpine Club offers rescue insurance. Not sure if that covers exactly what you're looking for, but it's a nice perk along with the other stuff it includes.

What would that insurance policy cover? Payments to you while you're recovering from a rock climbing accident?

Check your work insurance policy and see if there is a dangerous hobby exclusion. If so you’ll have to shop around for one. AAC is just rescue insurance.

I wouldn't mention rock climbing to any insurance company. Soon as you do, all the insurance companies - medical, life, etc will get wind of it. They share that stuff and you will either pay super high premiums for years or will be eliminated from being able to get insurance for some things  or with some companies at all.

They don't differentiate between Top Roping at the local city park and months long expeditions to the Karakorum.

Ask me how I know.

AAC now also offers death and dismemberment insurance, not just rescue insurance

I have “spot” insurance. Not to be confused with the pet insurance of the same name. It’s $35 a month and they claim ALL accidents are covered up to $25000.

I have never made a claim, so I don’t know how good they are.

I have employer insurance also, so I’m not sure how it would go. I would hope that the Spot would pay my deductible for the other plan and hopefully a few weeks of lost wages. I’m hourly and work on my feet, so I wouldn’t be able to work if I had almost any kind of injury.
