Man I love climbing at Home Depot. Such a thoughtfully laid out and well labeled crag. 

Finally, the subject of crag dogs is brought up. I thought we'd never discuss this.

Nobody at a crag asks you explicitly to feed their dogs

A Home Depot customer was bitten in the face by a dog while shopping in Colorado last month, according to authorities.

The customer was visiting a Home Depot in Evergreen when the dog's owner and trainer approached them.

The dog owner asked the customer to give the dog a treat as part of its training. The customer agreed – and then was swiftly bitten in the face by the canine.

The dog owner and trainer then left the building while store employees were tending to the victim. Both women were recorded on the store's surveillance camera.

You misinterpreted.  Belayer was talking about the leader who just onsighted

I love dogs in civilization, but they don't belong at the crag. I've been bitten twice while walking past, and both times I've been told "they've never done that before!" Lucky me, huh? They lay across the trail so you can't get around safely, they distract belayers, they pee on gear, they eat other people's food, they dig up the trails, and every owner thinks their dog is one of the good ones. Plus you have the owners who don't even pick up their dog's crap, as if that smell is just a normal part of climbing for everyone else. After all the things I've seen I no longer believe in good crag dogs. I believe in lying, selfish, lazy dog owners who should have bought fish instead.

Not that I have a strong opinion on the matter or anything.

Dogs are great. Dog owners fucking suck. Leave them at home

It's amazing how intuitive dogs are.  They know good and bad people almost instantly.

You're celebrating me getting bitten, and think I'm the bad person here? "Seek professional help" doesn't just apply to climbing instruction.

I love dogs at crags!  From the other threads about this topic you probably remember my cute crag pooch Luna!  Spread the dog love :)

You know, annoying also is for me on trail with my large mountain dog on leash and other mutt dogs are off leash but they roam near and my dog gets scared, them coming by him free. I have thought to actually take him to non dog trail and accept any angry comment. 

I will personally euthanize any crag dog that so much as looks at me funny, but truth be told that’s mostly cause I’m working on a new dog fur coat for ice season

Two things that all dog owners could do to prevent bites: 

1.) Always use a leash and keep it tight and in control in public/crowded spaces. Leash-less dogs belong in the dog park.

2.) Finally realize that not everyone is a dog lover. Not everyone wants your dogs drool all over their clothes.

Some news I heard recently is that a new apartment building opened up here and they are collecting doggie doodoo samples in order to move in - then tenants would be fined if the poo is found out on the grounds. Kind of interesting that this is the first thing I’ve heard being done to solve the problem of poo and poo bags being left everywhere.

I was bit twice by a little dog down by the river last weekend. No leash in a town with a public leash law. A thought crossed my mind that I should have kicked it and defended myself. I don’t want to harm any animals though. But wandering what’s the legal side of this is?

is it ok if the dog is sentient? i’d feel bad preemptively banning a dog that can hold a fluent conversation in human language (see: bluey, wishbone, scooby).
