LMNT lemon habanero or chili mango flavors. But that blood of my enemies (beetroot) stuff for the car on the way to the crag fo sho. And, if you want to earn the Mayor of Bougeville appellation, have a mix of Physivantage whey or collagen mixed 50/50 with Scratch Horchata flavor recovery in a shaker cup at the car (and a cooler or hydro flask with chilled coconut milk) This is living. This is also expensive as f$$k |

My wife does ultras, and started swearing by Tailwind. I thought it was overpriced Gatorade. Then I started drinking it. I became a believer. I don't use anything else now. |

Gatorlyte, as a supplement to plenty of plain water, got me through some hot and humid days last summer. |

i read about a concoction someone used for 24Hrs of Horseshoe Hell - it was a mix of chia seeds, water, some salt and honey to glug off of between routes. haven't tried it myself, but sounds like it would do ya good. i personally just use whatever hydration tablets are cheap. |

The "need" to replace electrolytes and constantly hydrate to avoid the risk of dehydration seems to be one the most pervasive exercise myths. Here are some good links to read: Featured Series (sportsscientists.com) (scroll down to Exercise and Dehydration) https://www.mysportscience.com/post/are-electrolytes-important-for-athletes The quick summary: - Drinking to thirst is a sufficient way to ensure adequate hydration. There is no universal need to drink "x" liters per hour. - During endurance exercise, keeping fueled with glycogen is of utmost importance. 60 - 120 g of carbs per hour seems to be the standard for elite endurance athletes. This is most easily done by drinking sugary drinks. - The electrolyte concentration in any sports drink is less than sweat or blood, therefore drinking more sports drinks will always dilute your electrolyte concentration. The electrolytes in sports drinks will cause less of a dilution than drinking water alone. (Although as noted above, you probably do not need to drink as much water as you think. Also low electrolytes is not really a common issue and is usually caused by excessive water consumption.) So the main benefit of drinking a sports drink is so that you can ingest enough carbs while also satisfying the moderate need for hydration during endurance exercise. But unless I'm hiking for hours alpine climbing, I generally don't consider climbing to be a continuous endurance exercise since it is so intermittent. So just keeping up with eating should be fine. |

J Pwrote: Nothing like a good chia fresca! I drink water 90% of the time, but if I have a crazy long day planned I'll make something similar. Water, chia seeds, lime, pinch of salt, maltodextrin. The maltodextrin replaces the sweetener as a higher calorie, less sweet, alternative. Very rarely I've added caffeine as well. Oh come to think of it, last time I made it I left out the lime and added matcha powder. Was fantastic |

^ nice recipe, will mix some up someday. eating food at the crag is a chore for me, and my mind doesn't switch out of climbing mode easily, so this may be a panacea. gotta say, i imagine there's a "too much" quantity with all those chia seeds... or at least, you may not want to be out in the bush when #2 comes calling. |
