I'm going to change the parameters for my answer "Based on quality of food" Top Tier, Red Rocks. This area has more than a 100 eateries with better food than anywhere in RRG within a 20 minute drive of the canyon. I love eating at Rockhouse, Miguel's, and Redpoint, and love the community at these places but also a realist... |

I’m gonna rep Casa De Amigos for Zion over Oscars. Oscars is great because of big portions, but casa de amigos has a little treat for locals... |

Vegas also has a lot of good off-strip food in the Summerlin area closer to Red Rock (maybe too much?). Paymon's (Mediterranean ) Giovannis (pizza and Mediterranean) Herbs and Rye (get there before 8pm for half-price steak!) Echo and Rig (Steakhouse and also have a great butcher shop) For beer - Beer Zombies! The one in Summerlin is just draft but always a great selection of craft beers from around the U.S. The one on Warm Springs has draft but you can also buy individual cans to take with you. Both have good food attached. |

For the NY folks among us, I just remembered - one of the best meals I've ever had was at this cozy little restaurant called Hoot Owl in the middle of nowhere about 15 mins south of the gunks. I thought they closed a while back but it seems they've reopened (and the google reviews suggest they're still on top of their game)! Seriously, treat yourself some late fall weekend, it doesn't disappoint - the tamarind ribs were insanely good. No, it's not on the way back to NYC, but it's worth the detour at least once. |

MattH . Hoot Owl—what town is it in? |

That gas station outside smith rock. They have these gnarly tamales. I once at 7 of them and got sick. |
