What Does Your Woody Look Like??? v3.0

Took around 3 months of planning, due to my lack of skills, but i'm pretty happy with the result. Got a lot of really helpful inspiration here in the forum. Some more pics: https://imgur.com/a/ErICa2B |

Built a small garage wall a while back, its been quite enjoyable, grateful for all the pics and advice online about construction. I'd been meaning to add my piece to the collection of how-to advice, so here it is. Current form. Base connection. Angled Wall. Ceiling Connection. Vertical Wall. |

Framing is mostly done. I feel like this is just the beginning. I haven't even finished this section and I already want to expand. |
|
|
Got some plywood on. I definitely need to go on the roof for an expansion. I'll get the rest of the plywood on tonight and start setting some problems! Sorry it's not a crag cat, but the black mass is Uncle Toady. The vertical wall is perfect for the kids. Fun for me but a little short. Basically one move problems then match hands. |
|
|
All done for now! The 30* wall gives me about 3-4 move problems. Super fun and challenging. Waiting on more bolts and holds now. |

just built my first wall and didn't know how expensive holds got...by any chance anyone got old or slightly damaged holds they could sell me or donate |
|
|
P got a bunch more holds on there, it's starting to look good, but It needs some bigger holds. I'm starting to build a volume for it too! |

What are folks doing for pads? I'm trying to find a cheaper option than just buying a bunch of crash pads. |
|
|
I stalked the local schools auctions and found old pads. 80 bucks for 2 8" thick ones. Just takes sometime, I think I waited 9 months and had to drive 200 miles to pick em up. |

That big blue pad in the middle of the above photo is a cheaper Amazon kids crash pad it's 4' x 4' and great for butt falls, but a little wiggley side to side for feet falls. |

4 foam topped king beds the gaps are problematic but... |

Vanilla Drilla From Manilawrote: I've got 10'x10' padding under my Moon-sized woody. Depth-wise it's more than enough, but width-wise I'd want another 1-2' per side. As it is, uncontrolled finish moves to the corners are basically off the table due to the fall risk / annoyance of moving the pads.
I really love these pads I got off Amazon a few months ago. They velcro together quite strongly, and while not super stiff (they're not like Blubber pads), they do a good job of distributing force across a seam. That said the price seems to have ticked up a lot since I bought them. I would bargain-hunt and try to find them for under $100. I've also added velcro to my pads (giant gymnastics mats) to keep them together. Coupled with some horse stall mats under the pads (adding friction and reducing sliding), this keeps them from rocketing apart when you land on a seam. |

I got lucky and found a 12” king size memory foam mattress on fb marketplace for $60… best crash pad ive ever fallen on! |

I previously had a pretty janky solution with several foam mattress pieces and crash pads with a blubber pad over top. However, when my gym renewed their padding, I managed to get a hug section of the old foam which covers my entire wall now. Also, here's a pic of my homeboard with a mix of old, new and homemade holds. The wall is adjustable from 15 degrees and down as far as you want. I mostly keep it around 20 degrees though. |

12ft long and 8ft wide double wall with a 7 foot long roof section can’t wait for my holds to get here |

Here's my backyard wall: 12' x 12' spray board with an 18" kick panel at the bottom, 35 degrees overhanging. I still need more pads and, in order to utilize some of my cherished Pusher holds, the wall needs more volumes! Planning on using PVC pipe and skate grip to make sloper jug rail at the very top; skate ramp coping style. Still working on a plan for shedding the rain, but I'm pleased thus far with the results. Bonus is having my teenage sons burn off some of their teen angst while hanging with old dad! |

8’x8’ wall with 1’ kicker overhanging at 25 degrees
4’x8’ wall on the side for the little squirt (she helped with the paint job) This is my third, and smallest, home wall and the one I’ve enjoyed using the most. Simple angle, original school holds in the mini Moonboard setup to give me routes other than the ones I come up with. Also my one year old is getting mad gains from it as well. She did a 10 second deadhang from a jug on the main wall the other day, and can climb her side with some help placing her feet! |

Some short videos on the spray wall to get you stoked on training. |
