Mountain Biking Down Rock Climbs

There's a growing trend of mountain bikers riding down slab climbs, coordinated with climbers on an adjacent route for extra shock-factor: https://www.instagram.com/p/ClOoCEIpzsB/ - he's got a number of mind-blowing clips from Moab as well https://www.instagram.com/p/CjDYdXTrkRQ/ - this one seems to have kick-started the trend What slab do you think should be mountain biked next? Whitehorse or Chapel Pond in the northeast? Stone Mountain in NC? Something in the S Platte? I wonder what the angle limit is in terms of the sustained steepness of the line - the 2nd link above clearly would be a death ride if it were twice as tall, but something lower-angle could probably be sustained indefinitely. |

Freeway in Flatirons. I’m not sure that this is a trend as these were clearly stunt rides. This is a good one too |

Meh. I’ll be impressed when one passes me going up. |

For sure, Stately Pleasure Dome walk-off. I would pay $20 to see that. |

With a finishing kicker at the bottom that sends you into Lake George haha… https://www.mountainproject.com/route/106092140/little-finger |

25 years ago or more, Mountain Bike Action ran a tongue in cheek article about the future of mountain biking. They described a race down Half Dome. Also funny, they described a bunch of weirdo’s in the woods doing something called cross country. Nobody really knew what they were doing but Ned Overend was winning. Prophetic. |

Seems like it would have the potential to beat the crap out of delicate holds on routes, or smear things up with skid marks. Who gets right of way on Snake Dike? |

Half Dome cables. |

Forgot to mention: a few people have done (easy, traversing) via ferrata routes in the Dolomites on a mountain bike: Pretty cool. Would be wild to see a UIAA 1/2 grade Dolomites route done this way, though the jagged rock there would probably necessitate a trials bike. One of the 'Plasir' slab routes in the Swiss/French alps would definitely be more probable. |

Gunkiemikewrote: Fortunately Half Dome is in a designated wilderness area and in a National Park. So bikes are not allow there, let alone off the roads. It is not a matter of if, but when someone splats. |

Yak Peak at Coquihalla summit in British Columbia is one of the more epic bike descents I've heard of. |

im pretty sure someone has skied down the Whitehorse slabs though I don’t know what route |
|
|
Yeah How about biking down Bachar-Yearian |
|

El Cap |

How quick is White Mountain Peak descended from the summit by mountain bikers ? |

The real deal. Check out all of the clips in this article. |
