I don’t even have this but the MH absolute zero. I’ve got the nilas which I’m in love with and can only imagine how amazing it’s big brother on steroids performs given that it’s warmer bigger n tougher outer shell. |

have you done any mountaineering yet? |

Western Mountaineering has great stuff too. |

How do you think this jacket will work for my purposes? - Rab Men's Positron Pro |
Nikita Owrote: Yes, but also No. It all depends on how you are layering underneath, if you have a thermal base layer a fleece and another insulated jacket on along with some puffy pants you will be fine. If you layer it with just a t-shirt and a light weight fleece it won't be warm enough. It also depends on how fast you will be moving which will mainly be determined by your own fitness and how crowded the mountain is. |

Nikita Owrote: You’d likely need different clothing systems for several of the objectives in your list, but this coat is a good start. |

The Positron itself is fine for this application. I've used it on warmer 6000m peaks without many layers underneath and been overly warm if anything and know people who have used it as their summit parka on Aconcagua and Pik Lenin. Dialing in the layering system underneath is where you'll make or break it though. A cold day on Ama Dablam vs a warm day on Elbrus are very different. |
