Hey there folks:

I’ll be in the Sandpoint area visiting family the week of Nov 14. Would love to check out the local scene there. I understand there’s some roadside ice but have no idea if it’s in. Happy to do anything in whatever weather. Shot in the dark but thought I’d try.

Hey I am not available that week but just so you know it is kind of shoulder transition season around here.  None of the roadside ice or really any lowland ice will be in.  There is probably ice way up high in either the Selkirks or the Cabinets forming up.  Also it is also a bit cold and wet down low for any rock climbing.  You might get lucky with a sunny day where the temps get up to the mid 40s to climb rock but right now at least they are talking about cold temps for the next week.  Your best bet would be trying to get up to Pyramid Lake in the Selkirks.  There is always a flow above the lake and I would guess it would be in by next week.  Or there are plenty of places up high in the mountains to explore!

Hi Marlin:

Very much appreciate the beta. Sounds about what I was expecting, although I was hoping for better conditions.

Best,

Christian

I actually just saw a picture today of Copper Falls up near the Canadian border.  It looked climbable although not fat.  If the cold persists it would be worth checking out from Sandpoint next week.

Awesome. Will have a look, although with no partner, looking is probably all I'll be doing.

Hi Steve: Just saw this. I'm back in California. Next time, yeah? My aunt and cousins live in Sandpoint so it's fairly easy for me to get up that way.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
