waste of breath but no, it's not. 

From the end...coil 25ft of rope... pull out another 15ft of rope...toss 25ft coil down/over edge. Continue to lower rope until at middle mark. Zero need to toss the entire 34.5m coil of rope. 

(I know, I know, why did i waste my breath)

So that you don’t get hit in the head when your climbing and someone is throwing a top rope or a rappel off the edge.

But it’s easier and still safer to just yell rope. The rope could get stuck still, and can still hit the climber below you
