Do you also drive in already racked up? Because otherwise you're not actually accomplishing anything.
No, but sorta yes. It's all already on the harness (except #3 and larger, they swing too much) and its laid out clean in trunk the night before. I've never had any luck with putting a fully racked harness in a bag and getting it out as anything but a rats nest. My method works for me, and my partners. If we are at the gate when it opens we are always first on route.

Most efficient guy I've climbed with would full rack his harness the night before, then stuff that entire racked harness in a pack. It's not terribly space efficient, but we'd get to the base of the climb and he'd be halfway up the first pitch before I could tie in.
Hmmm. Never had any of these issues. Just pull the racked gear sling out of my pack and put it over my shoulder. Hate the feeling of the harness wanting to migrate to my knees.
BITD at the Gunks, when there was parking along 44/55, the norm was to rack up at the car. We'd even return to the car for lunch from the cooler.
