How to Have a Training Intervention
|
|
Yes, I am the ice cream sandwich person. When I was a runner, I trained a horrific amount and was always injured. I know overtraining is bad. By every possible metric, I have a friend that is significantly stronger than me. However, he has not been climbing very good as of recent. He hasn't taken more than 1 full day off in maybe a year, his off days are always lifting and fingerboarding. He won't listen to me or really anyone else about recovery days. How do I help him? |

Schedule a 3 day camping/climbing trip here in the PNW. Odds are you won't be climbing anything due to the weather. :-/ |

make a bet with him, if he doesn't send a project he's close on after two days rest you'll get him an ice cream sandwich |

he needs another hobby. duh |

Break his knee caps. Mandatory rest days. I know a guy if you need his number. |

wouldnt it be funny if u forced a rest day and did it each day for two weeks?!? just by being nice and making or buying the friend food or drinks like soup or buy a smoothie or a fancy sweet coffee drink and put a few glugs of liquid laxitives in it? or visine max strength eyedrops? J/K and then the next week maybe at the end of the day after climbing offer them a homemade meal or something u bought or made that u covertly pour into it parasites from mexico the ones sold as extreme weight loss supplements, would be a funny joke and intervention story to tell |

Once he blows a couple pulleys, he’ll rest up. |

Hm I was gonna put a banana in his tail pipe or give him drugs. |

Kidnap him of course. Perhaps in addition to breaking the kneecaps. |

People are stupid. He is the epitome of stupidity. If he doesn't "know" and won't accept other's people's feedback on basic training methodology/concept, there is no way around it. Let stupid do stupid. I have seen a few of these kind of people. They are going to continue doing it anyway, simply out of compulsiveness, until they can't do it anymore, when they are completely broken/injured. |

He sent after two days off! |
