Trad Manwrote: I see some whining about this picture and I think most of you guys have misunderstood this bolt placement. This bolt was placed for one important purpose: It is not fair that tradsters have all the adventurous routes and questionable gear. Sport climbers should also have the opportunity to question their gear and make intelligent assessments wether to clip or not. If the bolting is "too safe", y'all whining about grid bolting. And when you see an "adventurous" bolt placement, you whine about this too. |

"Adventurous bolt placement" is my new favorite phrase. |

To bolt, or not to bolt, that is the question. The answer is usually no. If a bolt isn't necessary it shouldn't be there. |

As to the idea that one can't be concerned with lesser issues because there's larger issues out there... come on... |

Know how you can tell someone is a nurse/FA'r/vegan/crossfitter/Boulderite? Don't worry... they'll tell you. Tradman: "I'm not gonna rant here" Also Tradman: *has a stroke and rants on incoherently for 14k characters* TLDR |

Cherokee Nuneswrote: Probably not. The route developers in this area didn't place the bolt. In fact they have no idea who did. One of the developers is going to MM this weekend and while there is going to remove the bolt, fill in the hole, and color match the patch to match the rock. What's really weird is I climbed this route a couple weeks ago and I don't recall that bolt being there. Very weird. I guess the only good thing about this thread is that people learned of that one bad bolt. I doubt we'll ever learn who actually placed it. |

Couldn’t figure out how to quote and post a picture reply to Mr. Goat (old arthritic hands and the such), so here it is. Paging Mr. Trad Man… |
