Housing around moab

Hey all,

I'm reaching out for help from the climbing community. I'm set to start a new job in Moab on the 23rd. My problem is finding housing. I know this isn't climbing related but I'm a tiny bit desperate. I had something lined up and it fell through so if anyone knows of a house or even a room for rent within an hour of moab I would really appreciate hearing about it. I'm on all the listing sites I can find (Facebook, zillow, Craigslist, etc.) and there is nothing right now or I'm waiting for people to respond to me. If anyone knows of anything I'd be very grateful!

That gives you sleepy, sparse, Monticello and the ever depressed and depressing (although that's changing) Green River. Have you checked those?

Do you know the campground rates in Moab? BLM sites with pit toilets and no showers are $20/night. The commercial sites are anywhere from $30 - $60, and more for full hook-up RV sites. While there is dispersed camping, I wouldn't want to leave anything at those sites other than a secure RV, and even then...

Marc you might not believe it but there are campgrounds/properties not listed on the internet all around Moab housing the workforce as well as dirty smelly climbers.

You do realize I'm only 3.5 hrs from Moab and there quite regularly. Those "not listed" properties are under increasing scrutiny, and no, you can no longer just head out into the desert* and camp where you feel like.

*: technically not a desert but high arid plains from the botanists' perspective.

You do realize I actually lived there and still have friends there that do rent out camping spots to travellers? They stay away from suburban parasitic consumeristic blowhards that dont climb since CO took over the town. Namaste.

Glad you found a place Kurt, now we can kick back and watch the “who’s more local” competition between two people who don’t live in Moab, which might be the most Moab thing in this forum

Kurt! I’m also from PA (WB/Scranton area). Hit me or Cory N up to hang in Monticello!

Haha you thought this post was about housing but really my true intentions were to start a who's more local fight. It's the only real way to learn the area.

Will do! Nice to have a fellow PA'er in town.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
