I’m gonna have a semester where I can ‘study abroad’ at any US or Canadian school. What’s the best? Open to European suggestions for European universities as well. Give me the university beta. Gonna be in the fall semester so late august to early december

UC Davis for great trad, sport, and bouldering in Tahoe. Or one of the colleges in Boulder. Both areas have tons of climbing in every discipline and have some great schools. Or if you want to live in the bay but still be close to great climbing Cal is really good.

Are you going to have access to a car? Not having one strikes out a lot of locations. If you won't then Boulder is a good choice actually, you can bike to a lot of climbing.

Looks like you may be a sport climber? thinking of places where you can climb thro December…. The Claremont Colleges Consortium (Pomona College, Claremont-McKenna, etc. ) have excellent reputations. It’s southern California, so you will have day tripping on days off to a number of decent sport climbing areas, and weekends farther afield (Bishop, Vegas). Good location for getting out of town (easier than from LA/Pasadena).
UNLV maybe isn’t the highest ranked, but Vegas has an infinite amount of climbing.

University of Kentucky puts you an hour from the Red River Gorge. I don't know anything about the school but the climbing is great. It gets a little cold in December but the Red season is October and November

There’s a few schools in Salt Lake, UT. Unparalleled access to every type of climbing, in state and quick drives to all the other good stuff. +1 for Westminster because you can stack all your classes two days a week and have 5 days free…

Your post isn't clear if you can do "non-North America" or not. If you can, then do that.

Some clarification for some comments: I could study in Europe as well. And I have a car in North America. Interested in sport, trad, alpine, basically anything

Are you able to "study abroad" at any school? The climbing is better near University of Chattanooga than at Yale, but if I was able to get into Yale, I would go. It seems like getting into a school would be a limiting factor. I would pick a region of the country you want to move to and start searching that region for colleges you can "study abroad" at. If you're interested in moving to the southeast, Appalachian State, University of Kentucky, and University of Chattanooga all have a decent college scene and good climbing nearby. If you want to live on the road, taking a semester off college or becoming an online student are options.

Take a look at Fall Semester in Western Canada . Great alpine rock & ice . Western USA looks like very high fire danger this year .

Definitely somewhere in Colorado, SLC, or even UN-Las Vegas or Reno. Davis is only prime if you have a car and are willing to drive 1.5-3 hours to world class destinations. Boulder, SLC, Vegas all have prime stuff within 30minutes. I climbed so much in my final year once I got a car, I literally did 400 outdoor pitches my last year at Davis. Grades suffered but Cs get degrees lmao if my sole goal was climbing then I would go somewhere else.

Go study in northern Italy. It’ll probably be more rewarding overall.
