An old friend of mine lost everything.  If they give me permission to post a list of things that might help, I will do so here.
Meanwhile, a philosophical question comes to mind. If you have to ask who may have been impacted, and are willing to help a stranger friend of another MP Member, then are you interested in helping just about anyone? If the answer is yes, I've seen a few published lists of needs that were broadly general.

The thing that seems to be unquestionably in need is housing.
It is being run through AB&B's Open Homes Program so if you are near the area and have an open room or other place to stay, you can register and offer it there.

Multiple friends lost everything. Big thanks to firefighters , police officers, and multiple first responders for their bravery and service.

Agreed Steve. When it is all said and done, the stories of all the emergency folks that went into harms way to get people out of there will hopefully be told and honored. Sheriff Pelle said on Thursday night that at the time, there was no way to fight the fire. The only thing that they could do was get in there and evacuate folks.

It is simply astonishing that this tragedy did not kill scores of people.

By and large what Pelle said was true, as they could not fight the whole thing.
The fire teams did, however, make successful stands at some places and stop the fires on some lines, saving hundreds (or more) houses.
They did fight, and in a few places, they did win. It was just bigger than they were, and conditions were so horrible.

Agreed on the main point of your note, in any case.
In all things considered, they did of a hellovfa job doing a hellish job.  All of it.

I have a few friends that lost their homes. So I have some info they have shared.

There were several renters in the area without insurance. They are just shit out of luck. Total loss. There were several people that had not updated their insurance recently. Many of them have to sell because they are so far under water. Rebuilding is financially impossible. But, even those that had updated their insurance recently will still come up $200k short rebuilding. Ouch. To add to the difficulty, insurance will only pay two years of rent while they rebuild. Current estimates are three years to rebuild. So, after two years, they will be paying their full mortgage plus rent elsewhere until rebuilding is complete.

This could be a strange request. I was hoping we could remove this thread from the sticky at this point so its not always at the top of the Colorado Forum.

Im just one opinion and person, but I was in the middle of the fire, lost it all. I'm trying to move forward and do all the things you have to do. I have been on MP for a long time, I hate seeing this thread at the top of the list.

Agreed. Time to remove the sticky. My two separate close friends that lost everything are doing their best to move forward.  But, it hasn’t been easy.  No need to have a permanent reminder here.

I was evacuated today from the new fire not too far away,  Dry and windy. Not good.

Hey! Uhmmmmm….yes, it’s my OP. Was meant to offer immediate, emergency shelter for those in need.

Obviously, yes, that time has long past,

I’m kinda tech-UNsavy. But as soon as I can figure out how to unpost this, I will…

Other than your original post, you can't remove the thread once there are replies.

You could try asking the moderation team to remove the thread.

Or just flag  your original post and ask to have it unstickied.
