Another Collaborative Playlist

I had a lot of fun with the last thread posted by our very Irreverent Bastard ( mountainproject.com/forum/t…;) so I thought I would continue. This time: 1) Only one song per person 2) The lyrics must have some recognizable connection to climbing, whether intentional or not. 3) Style matters not. Chode Rider can add Between the Buried and Me, and OLH can add Julie Andrews (or vice ve Instrumentals are out by default, unless someone has a bomber title. Use this link to add songs. Your collaboration is on! https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4HLNJ2ZkajKnX5BzQPRO4r?si=m1V0-gGXQxWE3oyEvBo_mg |

Awesome, I was just starting a playlist like this, but only made it to 4 songs, so there you go.
My Brightest Diamond - Champagne
Dessa - 5 out of 6
MC5 - Kick out the Jams (Rage cover is a studio recording, so it wins) |
|
|
Protection - Graham Parker, circa 1980 I don’t use Spotify, nor do I know how. |
|
|
Valley Uprising and Meru soundtracks (both are pretty good) |

For commenters who don't have Spotify (which is free if you tolerate radio ads), I'll add your songs to the playlist. I'll be listening to this at the gym tonight as I'm hoisting masses instead of pulling plastic with the crew. Middle finger A2's are hella cranky after a three-day weekend in the Red. This is what happens when a crusty trad-dad wannabe tries to climb his Creek grade in the Steep South. |

Sinister Kid - The Black Keys. Part of the lyrics go: "That's me, that's me," This song is stuck in my head every time I do a Multipitch when my partner yells "That Me" when I'm pulling up rope. |

|
Alabama Shakes - Hold On “You got to come on up, |

I love The Distillers, though IMHO this isn't one of their best songs. The chorus definitely has a climbing connection though... "Tell me something, tell me something, Will I die, will I die on a rope?" |

"Such great heights" -- by the Postal Service Or maybe "Shake, rattle, and roll" -- by Elvis "Elvis Leg" Presley |

I've added the songs contributed by those who don't have Spotty. Nineteen collaborators from a variety of styles! Although nobody picked "Climb Every Mountain" from the Sound of Music like I was hoping. Thanks, everyone! If contributors want to add a second song to the playlist (by clicking the previous link) feel free. Marc, it's a free (ad-supported) download for mobile or computer, and will take your listening game to the next level. Premium is the best streaming service I pay for - $10 a month, or split a family plan with friends. It's a game changer, and is one of the main reasons the average Josephine doesn't pirate music anymore. I hope everyone has experienced a satisfactory Rocktober. |

F r i t zwrote: I intensely dislike streaming services and don’t subscribe to any (unless you consider cable/satellite tv a streaming service). When I want to listen to music, I don’t want the need to be connected. Same with movies. |

F r i t zwrote: Lol! OLH got the hint, but Trouble somehow came to mind. Even so? I didn't think of Climb Every Mountain, but The Hills are Alive.... Even even so? I would have linked So Long, Farewell. ;-) A bit ominous in a climbing context, perhaps? Best, H. (Still sick, but at least it finally stopped raining. We REALLY need the rain, but geez, a full week with no sun? Tough. Especially with short days now) |

Pink Floyd - Fearless "You say you'd like to see me try |
