Buck Rio wrote: I bought a maillon-rapide off Amazon, it arrived about 30 minutes ago. It was $11...it is also 10mm, I thought I was ordering an 8mm. UIAA and CE certified to 45kN and 10kN minor axis. But I really can't see how you could cross load this thing. I bought it to use with a Torse for TR soloing with a chest ascender and a Mini-trax backup. I have one of these..EXCEPT it is non-stainless, the screw eye is frozen shut, and it came off of a rap/belay station that had been put in in the 1980's. i.e. had been on-the-rock in the Northeast for 30+ years. I'd be glad to sent it to anyone who could test it's "breaking strength". I'd bet it's well over that of a modern ' biner. |

Quick note on these, we do batch test them as they come in. Production inspects each one to make sure they're doing what they're supposed to do, that work order is inspected/signed off on by another person (that didn't build the order) before its put in a box and QC makes a third check on whatever assembly or order is before it leaves the building. |

US Rigging offers a referral program. You get a $15 coupon for their site and I also get a $15 referral coupon. You just have to use the link below and enter your email address. It’ll at least cancel out the cheapest shipping option. I just placed a quick link order last week and it already showed up in the mail. Good customer service |

$150 for free shipping now from US Rigging. Good customer service too. |

Dam ‘dem Chinese capatilists, how dare they raise prices and shipping costs. |

Do you think they are manufactured in the USA? That would be pretty unusual these days. |

Quality is good from US Rigging but I'd be stunned if there plant was in north america. Taiwan? |

Will echo the above - US Stainless certainly appears to be the cheapest source for quicklinks right now by $1+ per link. Shipping is also super reasonable - ordered 50 to CO and it was still only $9 for shipping. |

I said f it, and am just using plated links, except on super exposed anchors that see runoff or direct rain. 99c per link, I can change them out in 10 years x4! |

Matthew Jaggerswrote: Even if I paid myself minimum wage, my time alone is worth stainless! I’d rather spend 3 extra dollars and save excess shipping steel around the world, remembering to return to specific routes I may or may not be living near anymore every 10 years, and new and experienced climbers alike getting to a (superficially) rusty anchor and saying, yuck. Thais isn’t an issue that’s solved by volume either… that’s just more routes to return to every decade = proportionally more labor. Just my 2 cents. |

Nathan Pwrote: Yeah, I agree in theory, but I'd rather spend the extra money on SS bolts. Any climber in the world can change out quicklinks, especially considering the quicklink will need to be changed out because of wear before rust. And again, I save SS QL's for routes that actually need them, and maybe all yours do. |
