I’m going on a top rope solo expedition to sand rock AL tomorrow and was just curious if anyone had some advice. I’m pretty confident in my ability to be safe but always ready to learn something new!

I'll bet if you used the search function, you could find something on top rope soloing. Something's bound to be out there.

My advice:

If you’re asking for advice today about what to do tomorrow, you haven’t dialed in your system. Go get a partner. Sort out what you’re doing before you go TR solo or you will get hurt. YGD.

Be prepared to ascend the rope if you fall and end up hanging in space.

Use rebelays and/or directionals to avoid edges. Abrasion is no joke. I've had two situations where I was swinging around on a rope and it cut ~1/2 way thru over the course of a few minutes.

What routes are you thinking about?

I haven’t totally decided but just easy stuff I’ve done before on the holiday block and in that general area. My partner bailed and I already got off work so I’m just gonna go mess around

Parker what device/devices are you gonna use. Having no idea what you know it would be hard to give advice.

Agreed, maybe describe the set up you're planning on using then we can actually give some advice.
