I'm interested to see what the guy who said "That's not how he died" thinks he died, in reference to the video of him rope jumping. |

caughtinside wrote: Ah ok. That's nuts! I just watched with him already falling and figured it was a standard rope jump |

T Legowrote: He did not die from a "stunt jump" in which he cut draws, he died after rope jumping on a old weathered anchor system. |

This one definitely deserves a place in the canon... |

Nico's mega whips in Baffin on Asgard's North Tower are definitely in my top 5. Having been there, it's a terrifying environment in its own right so the thought of taking 60ft gear whippers while trying to free an old aid line is just outrageous. Whole trailer (and film) is great but whip is at 1:34min mark |

Tradibanwrote: Just to clarify the mechanism of failure in his death since there have been recent threads on rope weathering: the main issue was rope catching across itself at a knot point, resulting in it sawing/melting through and parting Weathering aspect not major contribution at all since the result would likely have been the same even if everything had been brand new. |

Mark Pilatewrote: My apologies, I definitely used "weathering" in the vague sense, the anchor had been sitting around for months and he jumped on it. You are saying his jump rope crossed over itself, not the anchor? |

Allan Sanderson. that sounds pretty darn spooky! The guy who took this shot of me fell off just after he put his camera away. It was a very big ride with two big airs. Launched off a bulge for massive air, clipped the top of a bulge after the first air made a horrible sound and launched him for a 2nd big air. landed from 2nd air in a big chute and disappeared from my sight. t least 500 verticle ft.. Long day. He did live . broken ribs, fractured spine, lots of stitches and a full body hematoma. Jud climbing a few years after the wild ride. |
