Mask recommendations for indoor climbing where required by law?

Sure, there's always that chance that you're a ticking timebomb and don't know it.  But I'm talking about someone who ticks every pre-existing condition on the list, knows it, gets on the plane knowing they're going to be sharing a row with someone, and then wants that other person to do all this over the top stuff to keep them safe.

I guess I'm just saying that I expect some personal responsibility the other way around too.  My state's movie theaters are open, with socially distanced seating.  You have to wear a mask if you're not actively putting food or drink into your mouth.  Fine.  But no one forced the family with the immunocompromised kid to go out to the movies, and I thought it was pretty outrageous when they "politely" asked us not to order food, so that we could stay masked up the entire time.  It's like...c'mon guys...if you're that worried, should you really even be here?

Just wear a mask. It’s not difficult.

I think you missed the point I was trying to make.  If I'm in a business or other venue that allows food consumption, I'm obviously going to have to remove my mask to eat.  It's unreasonable for someone else, citing their high risk of COVID complications, to go to that same business and ask that no one order food.

Sure, but seems we're getting pretty far from gyms at this point. That and the start of the nth mask argument was Byrnes apparently thinking that his disliking of wearing a mask >>>>>>> managing a pandemic by applying a simple measure.

I don't think anyone says that removing your mask to take a sip of water or a power at the gym is unreasonable.

I was simply commending a few of the earlier posters (who had extra reasons to be cautious) for avoiding situations that could be considered higher risk, while also pointing out that I’ve seen a lot of people acting differently (including at the gym).

I was simply pointing out that you can simply wear a mask. It’s not difficult.

Also, please post a pic of you swimming laps wearing a mask...

You eat and swim while climbing at the gym?

Just wear a mask.

Are people under the impression that wearing a mask is a zero sum game? That removing your mask in the gym for 15 seconds to take a drink of water is the same as never putting it on?

Wear a mask when you can, remove it when you need to, replace it afterwards. It's not that hard.

No one said anything like that.

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the original topic of this thread? I tried the Buff filter tube and it was garbage. The replaceable filter just bunches up and is useless. Reviews for the OR mask make it sound like it has the same problem. The underarmour face mask looks pretty legit but itd be good to hear some real world first hand experience before throwing more money at this stuff.

Part of it is just getting used to it by wearing it.

This is silly. If you need to take a long flight, of course you should take your mask off to eat. That's not unreasonable. It's not the right question, though. The right question is "why am I on this flight?".  We should all be minimizing air travel and there should be a good reason you're on that flight, i.e. work or a true family emergency. Instead of nitpicking mask edge cases, maybe you should be focusing on how you can structure your life to minimize risk to others while still keeping your mental health intact?

I hate wearing a mask. It's uncomfortable and obnoxious. I still bring it everywhere I go and wear it if I am near other people, because it's the right thing to do.

The OR mask I find only has that problem if you're removing it and putting it back on, I havent tried yet but I suspect with either two ssmall safety pin at the side or some double sided tape inside you could keep it in place - so, kind of annoying but if you aree putting it on and leaving it on I find it the easiest of any I've tried to breathe in

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
