Denver Area - Multipitch climb with a good ledge for a date

Hi there,

This is a pretty specific question but here goes!

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good multi-pitch climb within 90 min or so of Denver that has a sizable ledge part of the way up where I could take a girl on a date and stop for a picnic on the ledge.

Or even just a good multipitch climb where this a great view at the top would be cool too.

Looking for something pretty mellow up to 5.8 trad (or 5.10 sport).

Thank you!

Bitty Buttress in Boulder Canyon both has a ledge part of the way up, and an awesome view at the top. Easy walk off too.

You might want to review the thread on acceptable date behavior on a climb....all depends on what stage of “dating” you’re at.   Definitely Not recommended for first dates, but if you’re already established romantically, then climb on.

Ryan, I think your quest is noble but you may be coming at this from the wrong angle. Montezumas in the Garden has only enough space for one person, leaving your lap open for an intimate <6 ft apart picnic/ staring contest.

Ruper or Gambit in Eldo both have good ledges half way up and are climbable this time of year.

No clue, don't live there but please let us know how the date goes.

Good luck

Oh yeah, let's add to the shit show on that route. Fucking great idea.

A date on the big ledge would be the stupidest thing I've seen there since people doing ground school on the rap anchors, preventing people from descending when there are parties in line both to rap and to climb up to the ledge.

Go on a hike or something. Do not go climb and do a big picnic, you will be that asshole fucking the route up for anyone else.

If you want to make the drive to eleven mile canyon, there is a huge ledge between the first and second pitch of the staircase.  It’s 5.5, but if you’re trying to push your limits in bed, and not on the rock, this is a romantic spot.

Which ledge on Gambit, the one with all the pigeon shit on it, or the one with all the pigeon shit on it?

First Flatiron has a ledge a few pitches up that you could host a bar mitzvah on.

Or they could just do it once they topped out? There’s plenty of spots up there to hangout, including a rope weave hung up by some high liners..

Would love to read it. Do you have a link to it or know what it is called?

I think this is probably the discussion he's talking about.

Does she already climb? If so, how hard?

Is this a first date?

What is the motivation for a picnic on a climb?
