What do you say to the banjo player in the three piece suit?

"Will the defendant please rise."

Ok now that we've got the banjo jokes out of the way - anyone on here brought a banjo, guitar, ukelele, mandolin, fiddle, standup bass, drum kit, grand piano, and/or pipe organ up a big wall? I've got a banjo i wanna annoy everyone on the nose with this fall, and I'm wondering what ways people may have used to keep their instruments safe in the haul bag on big walls so I can bust out some banjo tunes on the wall?

I know many people have done this kind of thing before - would love to hear thoughts

Any and all banjo jokes will also be accepted as appropriate responses to this thread.

Not a banjo player, but I’d pick a steeper route.

A good hardshell case will keep your stringed instrument safe from everything except rapid temperature or humidity changes. The extra weight is well worth it for preserving the tangible part of your soul that the instrument is if you are anything like me.

"Climb faster, I hear banjo music!"

Was doing a bit of sport climbing, there was a guy working on ukulele cords. I wanted to do unspeakably destructive  things to his instrument after 3 routes.

Hahahaha that's great. Deliverance but with climbing instead of canoes

We don't need no stinking banjos around here. . .

What's perfect pitch. . . when you toss the banjo in the commode without hitting the rim!

Pipe organ, for the win.

Anyway I'm game, what's the difference between a banjo and an engine?

You should consider this Mini Banjo, It's essentially a banj with a cappo on the second fret. It's cheap enough you won't feel terrible hauling it around and sounds good enough for a big wall jam. Don't ruin your nice banjo on a wall and take up a ton of space.

Ha! i actually made myself one of those a few months ago for that exact reason! made out of an old aluminum pot and some PET plastic film.

neither of my two banjos are a nice banjo first cost me 150$ online and the other one cost me about 50$ in materials but its about how ya play em not how much money ya spent.

i did see a youtube video of a guy playing a ukulele while leading the first pitch of snake dike, but I couldn't find it....

It's actually on Instagram which may be why you're having trouble finding it on YouTube.

An engine will take you places?

An engine only sounds like a bag of cats rolling down an escalator when it’s broken?

People take mufflers off their cars to impress their friends, while banjo players have to put mufflers on their banjos in order to have friends?

How many strings does a banjo have?

(Seriously though, the Banjo is an incredibly beautiful instrument. Please rep it well on El Cap and respect any requests for quiet. Such a fun idea!)

I used to spend a lot of times at picking circles, and although I play a lot of instruments after a while I've settled on bringing a piano accordion and a banjo.

I got a lot o shit for that, but at the same time I almost always got a solo and not a few paying gigs off it.  I have quite a few banjo jokes, but they are too long for me to type out.

Personally, I am a tired old man and I can't imagine bringing any more shit climbing with me than I have to.  And, FWIW, I don't think that banjo is very fun to play by itself, compared to, say, an acoustic guitar.

But you do you... if that's your thing, do your thing.  If it were me, I'd probably go with an 8-button piano accordion or a concertina.  Or a harmonica.  Or, like, just get really good at whistling, cause it's not any less annoying for people to listen to for more than 3 minutes.

[Edit here's an example]::

Wrap your sleeping bag and sleeping pad around it in the haul bag. Or jumar with it in your back.

Didgeridoo is the only appropriate instrument for el cap.  Doubles as poop tube.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
