Stileswrote: I dont understand why Aunt Jamima is offensive? My understanding is that titles such as "Aunt" and "Uncle" were initially applied to blacks as a way to avoid the courtesy of addressing them as "Mr." or "Mrs.". At the time these brands were conceived, the fictional spokespeople were given these diminutive titles as it was the custom of the day. In a modern context you just assume it's named after someone's Aunt, or some fictional relative someone dreamed up. But apparently that's not the origin. Or at least that's what I read on the Internet. |

T Legowrote: I don't see the problem given intentional misspelling and the fact that it has cracks, but kudos to you for respecting the need to wipe out subtle racism in our society. What about Uncle Jam. Or Martin Luther Cling? |

T Legowrote:"...Councilman/Jeremy Jamm" I got five bathrooms |

Lone Pinewrote: Martin Luther Cling is the best route name ever. Need to save that one for the FFA of a significant aid route. "Free at last! Free at last!" |

Stileswrote: I dont understand why Aunt Jamima is offensive? I think this article, written by a black food writer, does a really nice job of explaining the problem with "Aunt Jemima," and other similar brand characters: https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/aunt-jemima-uncle-ben-deserve-retirement-they-re-racist-myths-ncna1231623 Essentially, it is part of a "Lost Cause" narrative that slavery was good for slaves and black people should be in the kitchen making flapjacks for their white owners. It's subtle, and almost unnoticeable to modern people, especially those of us who are not from the South. |

Lone Pinewrote: Someone will surely find a reason to find this offensive. Half of the people complaining on these modern day climbing issues have good intentions and sensitive feelings and the other half are covertly racist who do not want any kind of black culture in climbing. The rest of us are bored. |

Lone Pinewrote: Wow, well done sir/ma'am I'm only afraid this route does not measure up to the name. Honestly, I've stopped caring though and this is one of the best I've seen so far. Thank you everyone for your help Stay safe!... To an acceptable degree |

Chuck Parkswrote: 100% agree but to preserve the name, I'm gonna slap it on this stupid route and someone can always take inspiration from it /reuse it later |
