Disclaimer: this is a question for (hopefully) this coming fall - I have no plans to come to the red during quarantine.

I have a horse trailer that I'm planning to convert into a camper. Just double-checking before I start that it wouldn't be too big to bring to Miguels (and other campgrounds across the country). It's a gooseneck trailer - 16 ft long at the full height with the gooseneck part extending about another 5 ft. Essentially it's a little longer than a large van. What do you think?

Here's an image of a similar trailer:

Yeah you can park in front of the gear shop. Met some folks that had a bus there all season

Doesn’t look like there’s an engine.

This made me chuckle. Good job, Sean.

The funniest part is that some people are responding as though this was a serious comment.

Edit: I assume, and hope, it was a joke.

I don't know how much first hand (or recent). experience the folks giving you suggestions have but Miguel's IS probably NOT going to be happy having you roll up with that thing in the middle of the busy season in the fall when parking spots are already at a premium. As others have said some destinations you are going to be limited to short-term Walmart parking lot stays and pricey rv campgrounds. At the Red your best bet would be staying at Lago Linda's, second best at Land of the Arches.

Have you tried calling and asking Miguel's?

Probably bad timing right now since they don't want to open the campground period for to covid. Also you're going to get the front desk folks, maybe email after things settle down and they decide to open the campground.

I did try calling the other day, but got a busy tone. I'm sure its not a great time for them to deal with my questions on top of everything else going on. I'll try sending an email as one person suggested in a week or two.

I've stayed at other campgrounds on my previous trips to the red, but nothing beats Miguels. The red would be one of the longer stops on this trip (potentially a month, depending on how the projects go), so I really want to have the parking beta dialed.

I bought a travel trailer a couple of years ago 22'. I have been pleasantly surprised at the places I have been able to stick it.
Finding a stable for the horses that's your problem.
If you move out west & your horses can pull that thing up Tioga Pass, Tuolumne Meadows has public stables.

Just don't park it too close to your neigh-bors.

Emailing miguelspizza@yahoo.com would be a safe bet. They’re generally pretty reasonable about things like this during slower times as long as you’re parking where they ask you to. If it’s a slammed peak season weekend you’ll likely want to head to the other campgrounds Eric mentioned

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
