How long can REI survive before they go bankrupt?

On my first Red Rocks climbing trip for one of our rest days we went to Disneyland.  It was definitely not my idea as I was last there as a kid and I didn't feel that it would be worth the drive there and back, but since virtually everyone else in the group went I decided to join them.

A bunch of child-free climbers in their 20's, 30's, and 40's enjoying Disneyland - THE HORROR!

The horror indeed

Seriously???   Isn't it a 4 hour drive?   Sounds like a terrible idea.

Exactly!

We left a bit before dawn, spent the whole day at Disneyland, and started the drive back after finishing a late dinner at a local restaurant.

En route back to Vegas I pulled over for a brief nap, and we got back to our hotel around 8am.

Like I said, not my idea.

The place is creepy. I would never take my children there.

Disneyland will fold before REI does

oh please, you fucking use amazon prime all the time and you know it. stop pretending like you go to your local arts and craft store for pens.

Strange point you’ve committed to assuming of others here... I neither have an Amazon Prime account nor have I purchased a pen in the past 15 years.

Any more zingers?

I've only been in one REI and didn't find it that bad, are there ones to specially avoid?

Good one, Jim!

Edit: To answer your question, don't go to the ones that have the creepy clowns by the fitting rooms. Avoid those at all cost.

I was talking about Disneyworld/land. Reminds me of Westworld, the original, with Yul Brenner.

Half of Disney income is from media networks studio media. They are making money during lockdown and so is  rei, they still sell online. But it is safe to say that rei is not going to see a record year in profits as the company had for the last 15 years.

My post was a joke but for real how are movie theaters doing right now, I haven't checked lately.  Any big releases coming out soon?  ESPN holding up OK broadcasting all those sports we all love?

I guess everything will get released after the quarantine. Anyway, don't be that concerned with corporations the average person will go bankrupt a lot faster than companies.  78% or American workers live paycheck to paycheck

how many business can survive missing two paychecks? (Eg-- a retail landlord missing two rent payments; a restaurant missing two months of revenue; etc...) I wouldn't be surprised of 78% of businesses also survive 'paycheck to paycheck.'

(not trying to argue that bailing out companies is more important that bailing out people, just saying that lots of things in the economy operate on pretty short leashes)

Kinda hope backcountry  dot com bites it before REI does. They have been sending me 70% off adds.

And I hope we get more manufacturing back in the US. Drug makers for one.

And Gearheads in Moab, and Rock and Snow in New Paltz, and Desert Rock Sports in Vegas, and Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder, etc.

Some studios are releasing straight to digital. There is a lot of speculation that movie theaters as we know them will all but vanish after all this. I don't think they'll all close because there will always be some films people want to see on a big screen, but I think if digital releases catch on, we'll see most theaters close.

I'm hoping this causes drive in movies to make a come back.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
