Mike Lane wrote: Oooof, this one hitting me in feels, for some reason. Sure hope that guy gets the mental health support he needs, as well as the indefinite separation from the ability to make his own decisions for the time being we need from him. Hard not to feel like he’s not alone in having crazy theories and anxieties, that he didn't come up with that “govt is lying to us!” mindset, that he was unfortunately in a position to act on those absurd notions, and totally lost his mind in the moment with all the current stress. Really important takeaway here to my mind is the value of trustworthy leadership and consistent, clear communication. And thank goodness for protocols and barricades that keep trains from getting too far off the rails. Strange how the ship appearing off the urban coast is as much symbol of the disaster to people as much as it is a functional attempt at alleviating the disaster. ‘Consequences’ considerations and contextual realities aside, though, it’s cowabunga levels of ridiculous to act on such an outlandish notion... (P.s. Hyper-analysis of jokes is hilarious and absolutely not a joke thread killer, right? Don’t mind me... still trying to learn that surfing the MP forums are not, in fact, the cure for insomnia.) |
