Moonboard/training board size modification

With coronavirus going around, any my gym being closed for more than a month I've decided to build a woodie that will eventually be filled with moonboard hold sets.

I have two options, either to build in my basement with 7ft ceilings. I'm not sure how I could chop a 40degree moonboard to fit that height.

My second option is to build outside, which probably isnt the best idea unless I could enclose it as I live in New England.

What do you guys think?

I just built a ~40 degree board. I choose the basement over the garage, which sacrificed size but gained much, much better conditions. I'm very glad that I picked the basement; I did most of the wood work in the garage and it was cold. In retrospect I doubt that I would use the board all that much if it were in the garage unless I could control the temperature within reason.

My ceiling is about 7'6". at 41 degrees I could get 8 linear feet of climbing surface (i.e. 2 4x8 sheet of plywood) and a 16 inch kicker. I picked the dimensions so that I could use a full 2 sheets, and therefore 8ft 2x4 framing studs and to avoid moving some lights in the basement. Sticking with standard dimensions keeps the build simple.

If my math is correct you could get a 2 4x8 sheets with ~12 in kicker at ~41 degrees in your 7 ft ceiling.

Overall, I'm very happy with how the board has turned out, despite the relatively low ceiling.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
