Nailing my first v5 at the gym a week ago, then watching my 12-year old son send 2 v6's.  Hoping for outdoor weather this weekend.

A new sweet climbing area I found with no routes yet. Correction, the first three went in last weekend! Picture is just a tiny peek. It gets bigger and better.

I just turned 41 and have more psych on bouldering than I ever have before. Anyone else ever gotten old and then into bouldering? Not sure if it's normal or not.

Leading trad! I led easy trad for the first time a couple weeks ago, and it was so much fun! :D

I'm excited to get out and do it again this weekend – and as much as I can after that!

Now I just need a rack... :)

I think that's really wonderful, I really do but if you've only led one route you don't need your own rack yet.  I highly, highly, highly recommend you continue to follow and also lead some easy stuff with an experienced trad mentor until you've led quite a number of routes. Of course you could buy your own rack now and continue to work with an experienced mentor, but using someone else's gear for some time will allow you to make informed decisions about what you want to buy.  Working with more than one mentor with more than one type and style of gear will make you even more informed.  Just my opinion.

Pretty psyched on how the winter bouldering season went. Pulled some hard problems on bullet hard brown patina out in the southern San Diego desert. Saw 3 other climbers the entire season, they were in a group, we saw them only once.

I dig this thread.

I'm mostly just training hard right now and psyched for a long list of summer objectives! Stoked to take off June-Aug and catch up with my climbing amigos on the west coast. I'm very fortunate to have some awesome partners/pals on both sides of the continent now. I've become very appreciative of the rock that the southeast has to offer, but the high sierra will forever have its hooks in me.

Strangely enough I'm stoked to clip bolts these days. I've finally come around to admit that integrating some sport climbing into my training has let me climb harder [on gear]. Now, will I also start pebble wrestling? Never say never I suppose.

Watching Olympic climbers show the world what climbing’s unique, amazing brand of athleticism, good sportsmanship, and “a muerte” effort looks like!

You've worked hard! Just the "training" climbs were amazing, sir! Gote luck!! ;-)

I'm hovering just over 130 pounds (from a high of 160+ maybe 5 years ago). When (not if, when) I go down into the 120 range, I will then weigh what I did...I dunno when. At least 35 years or more, ago.

I'm also working to get strong, climbing, yes, but also just to fend off fossilization as long as possible!

Best, Helen

Looking to climb trad lots this summer. My partner & have been getting a lot more into leading on gear last summer, and in some ways it was a learning season. I feel we have everything to make a big leap forward next summer and really looking forward to that.

Side-psych: we've been looking at a somewhat obscure multipitches trad are that's kinda more on the adventurous side about 1.5 hours away from where we live. We ended up not going last summer, but I'm sure we'll get into that this time around. Advices on it are kinda of divided from what I gather (loved or hated it), so... either way it's gonna be an adventure I'm sure.

Then not climbing related, but I'm going to run 113km on trails in 24 hours early July. I hope I can finish it.

But that's all a few weeks/months from now, so for the moment I'm kind off in the same case as you I guess.

Enjoy! Learning trad is a wonderful journey. It's like learning climbing all over again, but with some more wisdom to start with.
