Climbing in Yosemite Next Weekend???

Thanks for the positive outlook, Mike!  I'm just psyched to return to the Valley and get some pitches in for my birthday!  Cheers!

Oof.  Been watching the webcams and the radar all day.  Y'all definitely got some snow.  Current conditions report from anyone?  Should stuff be climbable by Saturday?
My biggest concern now is getting out of Oregon, haha.  We got dumped on here.
Lower Merced likely good to go by Saturday?
El Portal weather
Yosemite Village weather

NOAA is hands-down the most reliable source for Yosemite weather.  As far as climbing this weekend goes, I'm not 100% sure Mikes advice is sound.  It might be sunny and warm, but it looks overcast saturday, so stuff could still be seeping.  It all depends how low the snow line goes, and how quickly it warms up afterwards.  Could be really good, could be pretty damp and unpleasant.  If I were you, I'd go to Bishop or J-tree.  Both the camping and the climbing conditions will be much better.

I'm optimistic and would love to climb in lower Merced Canyon this Sunday and Monday and would love to share a ride to and from the valley (from Bay area, I live in Berkeley). I'm happy to just minitrax all day or rope up with others.

Now that the storm is through, it does look like it dumped some snow on the valley floor. But I bet the lower merced destinations are fine. Would be good to get confirmation from boots on the ground....

Lots of rain downcanyon, and it’s still cloudy and cold.  My guess is seepy for the next few days.  I’m sure you could find something dry tomorrow, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good day for climbing.

The crags all the way down the canyon got some snow.  The area around Parkline and U.S.G.S. didn't get much (certainly less than an inch) but I fear it will be melting and seeping today and tomorrow.  The Valley itself is very wet.  I am hopeful that some down-canyon areas will be good by Sunday / Monday.

Tollhouse is lower elevation and farther south.

Any sense of how conditions are at Tollhouse right now?

Thinking of heading out to climb something this Sunday on manure pile as I heard conditions were good last weekend. I’m not too familiar with the sun angles, how fast things dry out there, anyone have any beta on whether the little flurry/drizzle expected on Saturday should put a stop to my plan? Goal is to link After Seven into After Six

Oh it’s firefall this weekend? I’m assuming there’s some parking elsewhere nearby?

Morning I was at Manure Pile on Tuesday and had no problem parking at the parking lot but their were lots of people there with cameras no climbers I was the only climber there all day, maybe should change your plans and go to another area just to avoid the zoo on the part of the park! I am going to climb today in the Merced River Canyon and until the fire falls thing is done, Happy climbing Mike A.

I think El Cap Meadow would be the closest parking? which is not that far. But if you get tto manure pile early, might be fine? the fire fall is in the evening after all. Also the storm on Saturday doesn't seem to me like it will affect Sunday climbing at all.

The storm on Saturday should keep things pretty wet. There should be 8 hours of consistent rain with little sun and wind into Sunday.

Weather.gov is saying, "New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible" - are you looking at a different source? Maybe a change of plans is in order after all...bummer.

I check NOAA and MeteoBlue.  I think weather.gov means standing water, but if it rains for 8 hours straight with low wind and no sun, shit is going to feel pretty wet. This is after making this same gamble twice there and coming up short both times. Keep in mind I mostly boulder and a lot of stuff is in the woods and ends up getting seepage.

Right on, thanks Karl. I'll keep an eye on the webcams Saturday and probably audible. Bummed I was away for the bluebird weekend in Feb!
