Is this really still the post for Outer Space whipper in Eldo?  Isn't it time to give it a proper burial?  Is nothing else happening out there?

Ok... what’s a logarithmic spiral again? I’m asking for a friend.

My arrangements are set for our climbing together at Tahquitz on Sept 14 and 15. I’ll arrive on Friday in the late afternoon or evening.   And I’ll start the drive back home early Monday morning.

I’ll be sleeping at Mt. San Jacinto State Park. I can drive where ever and whenever to meet or carpool - do not know the logistics there, though it seems the SP should work for us.

I have a federal land pass, if that matters. Information on the need for that seems a little mixed.

Your dinner and beverages Saturday evening are happily on me. I appreciate your offer of a tour in a place I have never been.

Some possibility of meeting on Friday evening for introductions. But that depends on when I get out of NM ... and timing would need to be arranged on Friday.  Would be happy to make our getting together Friday evening a priority if you prefer.

Still have not “revised” your climb plan.  But I definitely will. :)

Was just thinking of this, yes good to go for the weekend. Let me know your ETA. I will probably arrive Friday at about 4:00 or 5:00 p.m.

Well, that helped me find this old thread again. Searched for “F5ing”. :)

Tradiban,

I took your 60 pitches in a day list and revised to ~30 pitches over a weekend.

That said, I do not hope to get them all in - half might be a good weekend for climbing with someone new in a new-to-me place. And we can pick and choose or revise on the fly depending on whether we find full queues at the base, or on how we are feeling about climbing together, or on your advise since this is your “backyard”.

* Fingertip Traverse 5.4, 3p (+ some on Angel’s Fright?)
Fingertrip 5.7, 3p
* White Maiden’s Walkway 5.4, 6p
Whodunit (Hoodenett) 5.9, 8p
The Open Book 5.9, 3p
The Long Climb 5.8, 6p

* These two could be getting-to-know-each-other climbs, though not necessarily meaning to hit both. I am hopeful we see climbing together more similarly than we seem to share the same view on MP topics. :)

Shortly, I will message you some personal contact information.  I am hoping you will reciprocate. I would like my wife to have your personal contact info in the unlikely event of a mishap.

I am planning on arriving in the area around 5 or 6 this coming Friday.

10-4. Those climbs will be subject to availability.

Though I am new to Tahquitz, I know what it is like to aim for a popular climb at a well-known destination: we may need to be flexible.

Will someone have a traveling stopper, or a 666 pink tricam, or some sacrificial MP rope or whatever?

Climbed Outer Space last week as a visiting Brit at the end of a fantastic Colorado road trip. I'd found P1 of OS unexpectedly challenging, so was wary of P2, but found it much easier. I had three good pieces (including a couple of wires) in before the reach to clip the peg (oops, pin) and then the actual move up to the undercling and round into the groove seemed pretty okay. As others have said, it seems pretty unlucky to take a 40 footer here.
Trip report here https://rockaroundtheworld.co.uk/2019/09/01/outer-space-eldorado-canyon-and-a-memorable-birthday/
It's a slight side-track, (and apologies for the huge over generalisation) but it's always struck me that Americans use more cams and Brits use more wires. I'm not saying one's right and one's wrong, but there's definitely a cultural difference.
