What is YOUR definition of 'send'?

I think of "sent" as finally doing your project after much effort. "Smoked" is to do a route first try, like it was nothing.

"Hey man, I finally sent Uberman after working it all summer. Have you tried it?"
"Dude, I smoked Uberman, along with the rest of the wall."

Smoked, cruised, sent, hiked, walked up it, sachet-ed, danced, floated.

Whatever.

When the post accepts my parcel ... then I have sent something.

Climb it any way you want.

Before a Send, one must pray. After the Send, one must spray.

I always thought that "send" meant to send it in to the mags and report your ascent.  I have never heard that it was short for ascend??? Have I been explaining this wrong to the noobs all these years?

Getting up the climb. Whether you define it as free or aid or onsight or flash is up to you, but getting up is an ascent.

I've always taken "short roping" to mean that the belayer did not give you enough slack thus making it difficult to pull rope up to clip. - that should EXTRA validate the send!

You seem to be equating it with a "micro take"?

There's no definition. You just know it in your heart when you do it.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
