Time to make some Jesus holds though God holds are the best. Mohammed holds might get your ass shot.

Prayers and thoughts

I mean, what kind of person doesn't like 'thank god holds'?

You're missing the point of the article.  It's not about religion, it's about race.  AGAIN.

"George saw the hold as emblematic of the callousness of white climbing culture."

Gross.. Soon we’re going to have fat people complaining that slopers are shaped like their stomachs and get those discontinued too. (I was obese for half my life, I get to make fat jokes)

This kind of stuff is absurd. How far do we need to go to please every last individual until there is no longer any fun, creativity, silliness or humor left? People need to stop taking themselves and what they like so damn serious.

  • Pasty white nasally SJW voice*

idk, i just totally think that "jugs" should be taken out of the climbing vernacular.  It's what oppressive white frat bros use to refer to women's breasts, and personally i feel attacked by that and unsafe

Everything needs to be featureless and black and white, void of any emotional triggers or anthropomorphic connections.  Fun cannot be had for any reason.  Living and let live cannot happen.  My opinion is the only opinion that matters and I speak for everyone around, so my opinion is everyone else's.

I believe that the problem is social media.

Just climb already.

Oh no, my farts from my vegan Mountain House meal, which I pumped water to hydrate, might have just killed my partner.  Oh well.  Maybe I can have their car now and their IG.

that took me a minute to see what you are laughing at :)

i read the article the other day. i actually thought it was a joke at first. some people just really want to find something to be oppressed by.

Anybody else tired of everything being about race?

Oh come on, is it really so hard to believe that some people might object to the appropriation of a religious icon on a climbing wall?

Anyway, I thought you all weren’t supposed to take gym climbing seriously. If it matters so much to you, go chip some Buddha holds at Ten Sleep.

Wow. This forum makes me miss so very much the old dirt-bag origins of climbing when  I started.  Things were so simple: no cell phones, social media, or distractions because of the boring lives we've created through technology.  Go climbing (outside).  Sleep in the dirt (outside).  Smell the roses and listen to the birds sing as the sun rises upon another day to climb on real rock...

What I found odd about the article is that  it was supposed to be about a religious statue but seemed more about race. That said, I can understand the protagonist's point.

Or if indeed you think it doesn't matter various body parts. Once again you miss the point, what is innocuous to you may not be to some. Personally I don't care, place cow udders as holds or skulls, have seen those. Some things setters do are moronic but ok its a gym, not real climbing.

“Whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both.”

People have gotten offended by others disrespecting their reverent symbols for a long time. At least the issue with these holds was resolved without involving the state, right?

Liz should consider moving to Thailand, where that hold would literally be illegal.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
