Listen to Honnold, kids! Nothing good to climb here. You should totally move to Vegas and try to catch a Honnold sighting in Red Rocks.

The interviewer should have led with something better than Bastille. What did they really expect.

 He isn't wrong, though.
Especially because he specifically referred to the Boulder area.

All of Colorado so butthurt right now...

You mean to tell me... that the dude... who spent the entirety of his 20's living in Yosemite... and being paid to travel the world to the most remote and impressive rock formations imaginable... you're telling me.... THAT guy doesn't think that Boulder canyon is the hottest climbing destination on the planet?!

Well i'll be..

Not even close. Alex has a good point but I don't really care about his opinion. Honestly, Why would anyone care? Years ago Sharma said NRG was nothing but crimp ladders. Didn't stop people from going there and having a good time.

He aughta have repeated Derek Hersey's Diamond trifecta, and checked out Chiefshead. And then the Ophir Wall to experience quality choss

I joke with the Californians about the rock but know our rock is choss compared to CA. But, skiing?  You actually thinking skiing in the West is better than CO?  What are you lumping into the West here?  I can see the argument if you mean West as in Utah. And this is coming from a former Californian. Just wanted some clarification.

Yeah. I don't have to answer this for you.

Ask yourself this question: who would care about their respective sport and the environment needed for it? : professionals. i.e. those who are paid to participate in that 'sport'

You name for me 1 (one) professional skier who lives in the front range, and I will never post on MP again (and who has not retired, lots of ex-racer types sunning themselves in Aspen, a place which deserves respect.)

It's not bad skiing. It's just very overrated. The only 'category' I can think of it leading in is lift lines. And hey, I live here, I chose it, and I like it, but all my friends (two of them pros/ex-pros thought I was crazy). Since you are from California, I am not talking about Big Bear: think Tahoe.

Also, it's funny to see some people bristle at Alex's remarks. Think about it: who knows more about climbing in NA, hell the world: you or him. Yeah...not you.

"it's to much work: it's to much hiking"

Alex needs to toughen up to make it in Colorado.  Just another spoiled California kid.

Whoa whoa whoa... he said the -Red- was nothing but crimp ladders.  He called The Racist at the New “the perfect rock climb”.  I’ve spent a few weeks over the years climbing in the front range (including last week)... I always have a good time, but also always end up wondering why we didn’t just go to the New...

I've been wrong before. FWIW, the Front Range is not really Colorado.

You’ve climbed a lot with Tommy Caldwell. Did he show you any routes here, since he lives in Estes Park?

"No, not that much. I've climbed with him a little bit around Estes, but not a ton. The reason I don't climb Estes often is that it's too much work; it's too much hiking. I don't want to walk two hours to climb something when I've just spent the season in Yosemite running down El Cap all the time".

That's kind of funny. I guess he has a point.

While on the topic of out of state license plates, Colorado wins. You can easily count plates from 20 different states in an hour on I-70 this time of year. We know how it feels.

Do you spend a lot of time hanging out on interstate highways?
