 He isn't wrong, though.
Especially because he specifically referred to the Boulder area.

He’s right, CO is king of choss! Just this past weekend I almost killed my partner when a block  of rock peeled off just by me looking at it!

But some opinions are more equal than others. 

Of course anyone who criticizes Colorado, especially Boulder, isn't wrong.  Duh.
One thing I didn't totally get through--while everyone would agree climbing around Las Vegas is infinitely superior to climbing anywhere in Colorado (especially Boulder), his rationale of not wanting to hike to climbs seems a bit off.  While climbing in Red Rocks is great, my memory is always of long trudges across the desert to get to the climbs (not talking about sport climbs).

I don't disagree with him that there is better climbing around Vegas. I would point out, though, that one of the main benefits to living in Colorado is that you don't live in Vegas.

Oh, I was all excited to climb Bastille Crack.  Guess I shouldn't be since Alex think's it's meh.

Is Honnold actually trying to convert climbing gyms to Christianity, or does Westword just need to buy a dictionary?

Colorado is 2 star climbing all day.

75% + percent of the people who live in Colorado moved here from the midwest or the East. They have been told for decades that Colorado is where the mountains are. They don't know any better so it's not their fault.* I call it the Colorado coolaid. It's funny to just drop random facts into a conversation and watch people's brain get twisted. "Wait, you mean...this isn't the best...but this is COLORADO." It's even worse with skiing.

I live in Colorado for exactly the reasons he stated above. But, when I have time off I leave and go west.

*Perspective is everything. My family is from Colorado. My father was a climbing ranger for RMNP, he thought Colorado was it, then he went on a trip in 1972 to a park out west - he said it was the first time he saw real mountains. Moved 6 months later.

Maybe you should buy the dictionary? There are other definitions:

• To preach any ideology to those who have not yet been converted to it.
  
• To be enthusiastic about something, and to attempt to share that enthusiasm with others; to promote.

I'm not sure how one equates "meh..." to 'savage.'
But OK, if that is your narrative.
