Check out this great deal I found on letgo! |

I asked if he was certified and he told me to kick rocks. My response was that I’m looking out for safety of others and that posing as a guide was illegal. This entitled youth movement is out of hand. |

Pay for my gas or buy me a beer. I can lead and need a partner. |

I also just sent him a message telling him what he's doing is illegal. And that he should take people climbing for free and for fun. Not sure he's even qualified to do that! |

If belying is $10 per hour, how much is repelling? |

His web page no longer mentions that he's a guide, maybe he actually listened to what people said? Heck, if he wants to charge people $20 to go top roping, I have no issue with that, as long as he doesn't call himself a guide. I say let him do his own thing, maybe he'll have fun and somebody with $20 to spare will have fun with him. |

FrankPS wrote: Right, because AMGA Certification (lol) is the same thing as 4 years of undergraduate training, 4 years of medical school and 3-15 years of post-graduate training and 3 multi-day licensing exams. |

Harumpfster Boondoggle wrote: You've always rejected the ideas of guiding and the AMGA, so your response was predictable. I was making the point that things that involve people's life or health should require training. I guess police and firefighters training should be poo-pooed too, since it's only a year or so. And paramedics and EMTs. And;.. To be fair, I've taken new climbers out and I don't have any certification! (but I don't claim to be a guide or charge for it) |

AMGA certification don't mean shit my friend. |

Harumpfster Boondoggle wrote: Serious question: How are bad doctors weeded out of the licensing process? I would guess that becoming a doctor also requires good judgment. Because not everyone that aspires to be an AMGA guide passes the exams. Couldn't one say, "There is everything wrong with a medical license being used as a substitute for experience and judgment."? |
