Thanks Frank, another IE failure, looks like I will have to switch over to chrome. |

Lori Milas wrote: That shirt is awesome. I don’t use most of those, but cold, bogus bolt placements, and it’s harder cause I’m short are My excuses of choice! Along with I hate overhangs, and I don’t do heel hooks! |

...and I hate bouldering. |

No need to hate ^^^ just say it does not interest you. You can start your own HATE page on another thread. |

Jeffrey Constine wrote: No need to hate ^^^ just say it does not interest you. You can start your own HATE page on another thread. Mr. Constine, please note, Mr. Orsag did not actually state that he does not boulder... Why doesn't that Smith shirt include "I haven't had any coffee"? |

I just noticed there's another (REI) post about Dierdre Wolownick (Alex Honnold is her son). Interesting interview: https://www.rei.com/blog/climb/dierdre-wolownick-on-being-the-oldest-woman-to-climb-el-capitan-and-also-alex-honnolds-mom I was a girl. Girls could only be secretaries, or teachers, or nurses—that was it. And then they got married and some man took care of them. Every time I read something like this, I just shudder, and I think how lucky I was to grow up without that. I was definitely oblivious to a lot of things, but I was never under the impression that I had to get married and have kids. Thank goodness. |

Oh I boulder all right Jeff! My hatred (and that is how I would honestly describe it) of it is based off my inability, no matter how hard I try, to achieve at the same level that I do as a sport climber or even a trad climber. I do force myself to practice bouldering so that if I confront an overhang/bulge/roof on an otherwise vertical or slabby sport climb, I am not totally flummoxed. Nothing enjoyable about those bouldering training sessions though nothing. Moves are awkward contorted lunges. Not fun or flowing/fall a lot. So yep, sticking with hate... |

Interesting interview: https://www.rei.com/blog/climb/dierdre-wolownick-on-being-the-oldest-woman-to-climb-el-capitan-and-also-alex-honnolds-mom Thanks for posting and commenting on this! Since it's Mother's Day.... Same stories from my mom - and she made sure to instill independence in me and my sister and encouraged us to be our own people. Maybe a little too much of a 'you don't need to get married' message - both of us were almost afraid to tell her when we decided to get married - we thought she'd be disappointed in us (she wasn't)! She also was/is a very gifted athlete, but the only options she had for sports in school was cheerleading (which she did and hated). She started running marathons in her 40's, raced bikes in her 50's (has a couple of Colorado State Champion titles) and did her 1st triathlon at 60 (she had to learn to swim) after a cancer diagnosis/treatment. Now at 77, with a pretty severe pulmonary condition, she goes to the gym every day and is tough as nails. |

My mom is a nurturer. She's always taken care of other people (still does at 86). |
