There should be zero tolerance on here for forging statements. I would never do that, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that. How far are people willing to go with that? Get belligerent with my name, go right ahead.

this guy is a total douchebag and poser......falling doesn't change that....omg he is hurt, don't say that... e.g.  everyone at a funeral says how great they we're..... still doesn't change the fact that a lot of dead people were asses,,,,

Dude, to be honest, I don't care if you want to kill yourself soloing, everyone should be able to chase their dreams, it's neither impressive or repulsive to me. It's also apparent you may have suffered a trauma to the brain that is not being dealt with. You should ask your parents to take away the posting device when you get home, you may be acting in a way you don't actually want to be remembered by. Also, I think a seeing a psychiatrist is a good idea, that kind of brain trauma is difficult to asses.

I will add that most people after this would hide their heads in same, it's kinda rad that you wanted to post that video, thanks!!

Paul Hutton wrote: People find success because of their confidence and self belief. Kyle seems to have all of that. There are a lot of people that take life too seriously. Anyone that sets off the ground without safety gear might not stay alive to see flat ground again, but they at least have it in themselves to take initiative and try. They have the right to do that. Who's so special that they don't deserve to dream and try? Being in an ocean of rock without a partner and gear is AMAZING! Most people won't fabricate their own experience, in whatever form they choose, if they even tear themselves away from their keyboard. I'd be interested to know the bold experiences that people that look down on others that have bagged a bold experience or two have. But I'm just a dude that lives the #vanlife while I'm young n' dumb, dives with sharks on occasion, skis mountains, requested to go to war a few years ago and was granted, and jumps out of planes. Whether you want to or not, you gain a new perspective when you try something that means a lot to you, and you fall off the horse if you can't stay on. You at least try. Lots of people in here that think they're so special and a bag of potato chips. I just feel sorry for them. They're gonna fail to slide in sideways at the pearly gates in a cloud of smoke, having left a well-used body, yelling "what a wild ride!" the bodies we possess in this cruel world is a such a short, painful course of existence, compared to where we go when our bodies can't go on any longer! Might as well explore ourselves! Kyle's not trying to make friends. He's just trying to enjoy himself. I know as well as him that people suck, anywhere you go! The best thing to do is just let them enjoy their peaceful protest. They have the right to do THAT. Why they care so much, I have no idea. I just speak up because I feel sorry for people that keep themselves safe with the Normies.

Well, I sure as shit know why I care about you, Paul. Because you're you.

YOU, sir, major badass that you are, nonetheless chose to believe in me, and encourag me, and kick my ass (figuratively speaking) when my confidence was totally in the shitter. It started as a barter, but it was friendship soon enough...

And my badly bashed up self? Worked like hell to hide that.

Some badasses are complete stealth models....until someone else comes along at just the right time.

You did just that. Thank you, sir. Hope I haven't destroyed your rep too badly, lol!

For the record, I will never be other than badass. Even if I rope up for fourth class. That's how I will be here to climb when I'm 104, in the glow of Halley's comet when it returns and I see it again. Takes a long life to do that.

Best to ya! Helen

You're wrong about one thing--your confidence wasn't totally in the shitter. At your age, you must know what it's like to try to meet expectations when someone asks and trusts you to coach them and keep them safe. I had to scrape up my confidence to do that. Something worked.

I destroy my own rep. Unless you start writing vain bs and put my name on it, and people take it at face value instead of investigating to see if it's in my character. I can see why people who get set up might be pissed. But they'll get theirs.

Lord Slime (John Byrnes) is here, mostly on Ft Collins threads.  Russ Walling is too, along with Greg Opland & Bruce Hildenbrand.  Amanda Tarr quit climbing (for the most part) and has a young daughter.  She writes sci-fantasy novels now.  Brutus of Wyde passed on.  Coomer was here in '15/'16 for a bit.  Have not heard from him since.
Surprised you didn't ask about George Bell! (also here, but much less active.)

I remember when we voted on rec.backpacking whether or not to create rec.climbing.  That was around 1990 maybe!?
