  • *update  bought a sp from a forum member, thanks for all the mesages***

    Hi guys,
I would like to barter or  buy a Silent partner.  I am willing to do up to $1500 cash, or I will barter up to $2500 in goods or services.  I am a builder and an arborist.  Experienced, licensed and insured. References available upon request.  Fairfield County, CT based.  Will barter services in CT, NY and MA.

    Willing to barter [up to $2500] the following;
    Fire wood
Rough sawn or finished hardwood lumber from my mill
    Tree care/ removal
    Landscape Design/ Installation
Any service to your home or business within the budget [roofing, masonry, carpentry, painting, etc]
Anything else within my licensing and insurances [Building, arborist, hvac, plumbing, electrical, turf/ lawn, many more]

BEAUTIFY YOUR HOME AT NO OUT OF POCKET COST FOR YOUR SILENT PARTNER, OR JUST TAKE THE $1500

P.S.  Sorry to the other climbers, but my I am tired of using a GriGri 1.  I know this kind of thing elevates the market price of a good, but maybe the good is worth it.  Hopefully someday Rock Exotica will just start selling them again for seven or eight hundred and bring a profitable and end this blood bath.  Until then, it is going to remain a luxury for wealthy climbers, or those without families and children to support [like me]

    *******UPDATE*****
In light of all the responses, thought I would clarify the conditions.  at the full 1500 price tag i am expecting a device that is essentially unused/ new in box.  I am will to consider a more used unit for less, standing offer for a "lightly used" unit is 1000...

This shouldn't take long. That's a very generous offer. The last several have sold for less than half that on eBay. Another one will show up there soon I'm sure. But hey, if you want one right away, and clearly you're willing to pay for it, more power to you!

Why has another company not started making these. Is price really the only reason they are extinct or is it the liability?

This article has a note from Rock Thompson, the creator of SP - https://www.climbing.com/news/rock-exotica-silent-partner-sells-for-1400-on-ebay/

i saw that article, that is what motivated my post.  I am pissed that my revo didn't work out, experienced these issues youtube.com/watch?v=8p75VDX…
sadly i did not find that video till after taking a frightening lead fall onto my revo... went right back to my drilled grigri.
Even if Rock does release a new device tomorrow, i would want a Partner.  I refuse to solo on a device that hasn't been abused by other people for at least a year, my Revo sat on a shelf for a year from the release date before I used it.
IMO the revo is still definitely worth owning, as it is a bombproof way to have a gumby belay you without getting shortchanged (sorry GriGri, but you suck on lead with a newbie belay)

Eddy.

also, anyone remember that SP that sold here for less than $100 about a year or two ago? Still boggles my mind, the guy just didn't know or didn't care, was the craziest thing... Still wish I would have been faster on the draw for that one, haha (don't we all).

I’d like a sp for $250, I promise to use it and never sell it for more than I paid.

Wes if you wanna do some tree work in Moab, we could talk. I don’t use this thing much.

Skip the SP, it's a boat anchor for free climbing, just get an Eddy.

This

I had one of the first SPs in production and wouldnt pay 100 for another one. Soloist is a way better device, IMO. Haven't tried leading on the Eddy or other devices.
