That dork can't act. :)

You obviously have no clue how a documentary works. Alex and Sanni had a camera embedded with them for 2 years to get the footage you see and Alex has admitted that after enough time he/sanni were oblivious to it being there.

Chai/Jimmy's job as director is to then pull together all of the footage to tell the story they see. That's what got Jimmy and Chai the Oscar. For a Documentary, recording what the subjects produced on their own then making it into a watchable film. By definition there is no acting.

Alex has said there were some quotes taken a bit out of context to make the story what the directors wanted like the one about the Samurai etc but that's not the same.

"By definition" LOL. Alex has said blah blah blah. Apparently you know nothing about film making, awards and life. MD? I'd let you stitch me up and give me a prostate exam but no, you don't get to tell me how to interpret art and their was quite a bit of art in that film!

I wonder what awards would have been given out if he failed. I also wonder what kind of press coverage there would have been. Would any of it have been positive?

Wow, I’ll bet the filmmakers never considered that outcome.  Brilliant and biting analysis there.

Its funny how bent people get over others opinions, it's like modern politics, no middle ground. You either like it or get ripped a new one. MAGA!

Sure, they thought of it but did they actually consider it? They all seemed to "trust" that Alex could handle the climb and used that trust to justify the filming. But on that climb there's no way to guarantee he would make it and there's no way for sure to guarantee that the filming process did or didn't influence him climbing it.

Had Honnold fallen there wouldn't have been a film. Like I said before, huge balls to film it, I'm glad it paid off but don't tempt fate twice.

I'm likening it to the blues guitarist who sold his soul the the devil for fame while not knowing when the devil would come to collect. Huge balls for sure, especially as friends.

That would be Robert Johnson.

A climber once went to the crossroads.... the Devil promised “you will not die climbing and you will never fall off a cliff” was the deal.

Real question, not an implication, is this a logical fallacy?

It could be if there was an argument. Just opinions and insults here.

Has Alex’s mom seen the film? Any idea about her reaction?

She watched it in Sac at the showing I went to...she didn't comment at that time. It was Alex's show.

Shit man, that video just confirms how much I fuckin' nailed it! They couldn't eliminate the influence of the film crew completely and they feel like they got away with murder when it was finally over. (Slam dunk).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
