that article is ridiculous. " The team said they went through an 'incredible' amount of training to develop the skills and gain the experience to tackle this descent", a caption below a photo that included a biner being tri-axially loaded. Because rappeling requires so much training and skill...

Rappelling El cap is actually a pretty big ordeal. Have you ever climbed El cap? Can you imagine the amount of weight of a 3,000 foot rope. How the friction required changes drastically during the descent. You would get nowhere with a standard atc with 3000 feet of rope.

Granted I hate rappelling and would not do it for fun.  It is a dangerous part of climbing that most take for granted. With that said fuck yeah I would rappel El cap with a single rope. Seems like a great way spend the morning

Its a simple question of weight ratio.

A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.

Well, it doesn't matter.

Well then of course, African Swallows are non-migratory.

I liked it but was hoping for more footage of him climbing, whether from a zoomed in telescopic lense, or more cameras on the wall.  It struck me as the normal climbing flick.

I personally liked Meru better. This has gotten me stoked to watch the Dawn Wall now!
