Going to Utah 3/10 - 3/17 but looks like weather is going to make climbing difficult to find.

We’re thinking of making the 10 hour drive to J-Tree, what’s it looking like out there now?

Just climbed there yesterday. It was windy but very comfortable for climbing. When checking the weather forecast for Joshua Tree, you should also check the weather forecast for Indian Cove which is at a lower elevation and located on the western edge of the park  versus that of the main climbing areas inside the park. It's usually about 5 to 7 degrees warmer in Indian Cove. We arrived on Saturday during a 50% chance of rain forecast in the park but the Indian Cove/Twentynine Palms forecast had only a 10% chance of rain. We spent all day Saturday climbing at Indian Cove and then went into the main park on Sunday.

I've noticed that the weather can change out there.

I like to use "weather forecasts" when planning outdoor activities.

Went 3/3-3/7, it was absolutely beautiful everyday. Best climbing trip in a while. Not too crowded yet. You can either secure a spot online at Indian Cove and deal with the 30 minute drive into the park (or loads of slightly lower quality pulling inside the campground) or risk the first come first serve spots in the park. Hidden valley and Ryan campgrounds were both full when we were there. Or you can be ballers and do an air bnb.

No need to worry about the rain delaying climbing too much. It dries out very quick, and it’s granite so as long as you are comfortable climbing in the conditions, you ain’t gonna hurt the rock.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
